Phoenix Man accused of having threatened to shoot Gay Bar in the midst of political anger

Phoenix (Azfamily) – A man from Phoenix was arrested after the police said he threatened to shoot a gay bar near his apartment because he was angry with recent political violence across the country.
Phoenix police arrested Treven Michael Gokey, 49 on Wednesday, on the accusations of having made a terrorist threat and using a computer to threaten, who are both crimes.
The court documents revealed that the police had been called to Gokey’s apartment for a wellness check after a crisis hotline reported that Gokey had threatened to shoot Cruisin ‘7th, a popular LGBT bar near Seventh Street and Osborn Road because he said he was “triggered by political events”.
When the police arrived, Gokey refused to get out of his apartment and made statements that “left radical violence causes an extreme right response”. Police asked for details and mentioned the recent assassination of Charlie Kirk and school fire in Minneapolis and Tennessee.
In court documents, police said they had interrogated Gokey about these events and how they made it feel, to which he said it did not make him happy and “wanted to hurt others” to send a message.
Police revealed in the arrest of documents that Gokey said that “Charlie Kirk was a martyr, that he” was a martyr of Charlie Kirk “and that” political violence generates political violence “. The police also detailed several transphobic comments that he would have made.
The court documents also showed that Gokey had previously called Phoenix PD to make a police report, in which he would have declared that if the police did not arrive, he “would shoot passers -by”. Once the police have arrived, he said, “It worked, right?” The police also noted a previous call linked to mental health.
Gokey was sentenced to Maricopa County’s County prison with a deposit of $ 250,000.
