Here is a recent story AP Soccer:

Angel City, the national team of the Los Angeles Women’s Football League, distributed t-shirts to fans on Saturday which proclaimed “immigrant City Football Club”.

Team members and coaches also brought the shirts before their match on Saturday evening against the courage of North Carolina in solidarity with city immigrants who were targeted by American immigration and customs agents.

The back of the shirts said that “Los Angeles is for everyone” in English and Spanish. The team said some 10,000 shirts had been distributed.

The demonstrations against the immigration policies of President Donald Trump released in Los Angeles a week ago. Members of the National Guard and Marine Troops were sent to the city and dozens of similar demonstrations broke out nationally.

Last week, Angel City published a declaration on social media adding the demonstrations.

“We have a heart broken by the fear and uncertainty that many in our community of Los Angeles are feeling right now,” he said. “In Angel City, we believe in the power of belonging. We know that our city is stronger because of its diversity and people and families who shape it, love it and call it at home. ”

Player unions for NWSL and WNBA have also expressed their solidarity with families “confronted with fear, difficulties and uncertainty linked to immigration”.

“We hold on with everyone in search of security, dignity and opportunities, regardless of where they come from or where they hope to go,” published the NWSLPA and WNBPA jointly. “Each person deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. We know that not all situations are simple. But offering compassion should never be on a debate. ”
