Alicia Silverstone Recalls Her Late Mother’s Appearance in the Classic 1995 Romantic Comedy Distraught.
To a Distraught During a Q&A session at the Jacob Burns Film Center in Pleasantville, New York, on November 12, the 49-year-old actress explained how her mother briefly appeared in a scene in the film.
“There’s a wedding scene: my mother is in the back and she died that night six years ago,” Silverstone said at the event. “So it’s really nice to have her, because I love her and I miss her and so it was very emotional to see that moment and say, ‘Oh my God, there’s my mom,’ and tonight is the night. Tonight is the night she passed away. So, it’s very nice.”
Silverstone continued: “She would be really happy to see that happen.”
Silverstone reflected on her mother in a 2021 blog post, writing: “My mother lived lightly on the earth, she planted seeds in me, she loved animals, and she taught me to never be materialistic or waste anything.”

In April, Silverstone celebrated the announcement of an upcoming Distraught TV project, writing in an Instagram post: “Totally buggin’…in the best way 💁♀️✨ (Swipe to see why 😉).” Instagram users who swiped moved from a photo of Cher in 1995 Distraught to a screenshot of a report from Variety about restarting.
The actress recently gave an update on Peacock’s upcoming film. Distraught Television series in which she will reprise her role as Cher Horowitz.
Talk to Entertainment tonight In August, Silverstone said: “We’re in the very early stages. I’m obviously excited. I never thought it was something I would ever do because I wouldn’t want to ruin this thing that we all love so much. So we’ll do our best to honor the original film that we love and also bring something new to it.”
She added: “That’s the goal, and I believe we’re going to achieve that goal.”
