How to do DIY makeup that you will really use

I have experienced many DIY projects over the years. Everything, from lotion bars to toothpaste, including Vanilla scrub. I get a lot of questions about natural makeup and what I use. It is therefore probably not surprising that I learned to do a lot of my own natural DIY makeup!

Makeup was definitely one of the most difficult things for me to find natural alternatives. In college, I practically collected makeup and I had tubes, compacts and endless brushes which were never even used.

Here is a collection of what I did and I had the best results.

Natural makeup

Although there are good natural alternatives that you can buy (see the list below), the cheapest and most natural way is to simply do yours. You may already have all the ingredients in your kitchen!

Do you want to buy it?

You are not diamler your own makeup or you do not want to buy all the ingredients? Here are my favorite places to buy natural and healthier makeup. You will find everything, from the foundation to the blush, passing through the lipstick in eye makeup, and more.

Natural skin care

What you do to your skin before using makeup is just as important as the makeup you use. Fortunately, there are large natural options for skin care.

I love the oil cleaning method, which leaves the skin soft and smooth using natural oils to balance the skin. I generally use the oil cleaning method at night and wash my face with raw honey if necessary in the morning.

You can also use sugar scrubs and masks to keep the skin shiny. Find a ton of natural care recipes to personalize your own skin care routine here.

With appropriate skin treatments, the skin will naturally be healthy and you will not even need makeup most of the time. Most of the time, I completely jump the makeup. When I wear it, these are the recipes and products I use.

Natural foundation

I have already used cocoa powder for dry shampoo, so why not try it too for makeup? One of my friends recommended using cocoa for sunbathing powder, so I experienced my own natural foundation powder by using it. The resulting recipe is similar to mineral makeup

I start with the Arrow-Root powder and zinc oxide, then slowly add the cocoa powder and the finely ground cinnamon. I also add a pinch of white cosmetic clay, the terrestrial clay of Fuller, French green clay and a touch of gold mica powder. Just add a little at a time until you get the shade you want. Zinc offers more blankets, and mica makes it more fluid and my skin looks more radiant.

You don’t have these ingredients? A simple mixture of arrow-room and a small amount of cocoa powder and cinnamon works well. They will not offer as much coverage (and be careful because cinnamon can irritate the skin).

Here are some more natural foundation options:

Bronzer / Natural blush

For a simple homemade tanning, use arrows, cocoa powder and a pinch of cinnamon to obtain a darker shade. Finely ground dried beet root flowers or hibiscus can also add a pink tone. However, they must be very finely finished to work!

You can also add zinc oxide powder at the base and red or pink mica powder for an additional sparkle.

Natural eye makeup

Always be careful when using products, even natural, near your eyes. Those who wear contact lenses may need to be very cautious to avoid any scratch. That said, here are some of my favorite DIY options for eye contour.

Some days, I just feel lazy and I want a quick mascara option. I will mix a few drops of natural aloe vera gel, vitamin E oil and a pinch of activated wood. Not very precise … I know. Use a mascara wand to apply.

To eyelinerI use either a little bit of cocoa powder mixed with coconut oil, or a tiny buffer of activated charcoal and whitted shea butter.

To make a smoother eyeliner, I mix equal parts of coconut oil and shea butter (about 1/2 ounce of each) and adds about 1/2 tsp. You can also do it with cocoa powder for a brown shade.

Natural DIY lips

You probably don’t expect to find lead in your lipstick, but it is there in small quantities. More other harmful ingredients that we end up absorbing and swallowing throughout the day. Here are some recipes to avoid toxins and do yours!

Unbalance of natural makeup

Ignore the need to buy an additional product (probably full of ingredients less than ideal) and try one of these simple natural makeup moves. You probably already have the ingredients around the house!

Supplements for skin care

I am firmly convinced that what we put in our body is just as important, if not more than what we put in it with regard to the health of the skin. I had a terrible acne. Since I changed my diet (remove dairy products), cure my intestine and take supplements, I haven’t launched out at all. And … my past scars have healed. The supplements that seemed to have made the biggest difference for me are:

  • Fish oil – For vitamins A, D and K, omega -3 and antioxidants, which are all perfect for the skin.
  • Gelatin – A precursor of collagen that made my hair, skin and nails significantly stronger and smoother (ideal for cellulite also).
  • Magnesium – An anti -inflammatory (and most of us do not have enough!). Topical magnesium oil seems to be the most effective for skin health.
