Unleash, ‘Coachella and the American tour

Improved K-pop stars are in the middle of a record year.

Back with their sixth EP, Desire: unleashThe group of boys from seven members of the Hybé Belift laboratory made its Coachella debut in April and is preparing to go in a world tour in North America and Europe.

ENHYPEN – Composed of members Jungwon, Heeseung, Jay, Jake, Sunghoon, Sunoo and Ni -Ki – were formed through the Survival Show music I-Land. The show, a joint venture between Hybi and the Korean Enmnant Entertainment giant, was broadcast on the MNET channel belonging to CJ ENM in South Korea.

On the last album, the group, not surprisingly, explores desire in all its forms. Their main single, “Bad Diry (with or without you)” is infinitely catchy and sound compliant with past versions. The clip on another world begins with a frightening voiceover: “Did you really think I could just stay in place and look at you disappear?” The tradition of Hipen – the scenario which took place throughout their career – supernatural, specifically vampiric, in nature and “bad desire” continues this line.

Below, Enhypen shares the inspiration behind the album, what their Coachella experience looked like and what they plan for their next world round.

What is the concept behind Desire: unleashAnd why are you all so excited by the exit?

Jungwon As the title suggests, the theme and the global concept are desire. To develop a little on our main single (“bad desire”), there can be various forms of desire, right? I think one of them could be the way you want to be equal to the person you are in love. This song revolves around the concept of this and internal struggles and conflicts that come with love.

Does anyone have a favorite song on the album?

Jake “Coward.” It’s a very good song. With the time that becomes very hot, I think it’s a good song to listen to when you feel a little too hot. It makes you more relaxed and makes you fresher. It is a very beautiful, light and windy song.

Sunoo “Flashover” is my favorite. The song itself is really edifying. I am very excited when I listen to it, and I just think it’s the perfect opening piece to launch the album.

“I think we have an excellent team behind us who publish such a detailed and unique album each time,” said Jake of the group’s new album.

“Outside” is a really fun track. Can you tell me a little more about the song?

Jake “Outside” has a very tense and very strong base base, which is very unique and very attractive. I feel like it’s a very hip hop style song. We haven’t done this before. We have already made songs of hip hop style, but I think it is very unique and it is even deeper. It is a great song that we decided to put the album because we looked like the energy of the song and the style of the song is suitable for the whole theme of Desire Alright.

Jay, what was it to produce and play the guitar on “Helium?”

JAY It was an opportunity for which I have been training since our beginnings, so I’m really grateful. I am particularly proud and happy to have been able to write a song for the group. I really put every last effort on this and the recording went really well. The result also came out very beautifully. I am very happy and proud of the results.

What was performance experience at Coachella? Was there any moments that stood out?

JAY We have prepared very hard for performance. It was a delicate performance. There were weather problems, but I believe that every moment has been a great experience and it allowed us to grow as an artists.

Do you think you learned something about yourself as a interpreter during your sets? In a large festival like this, there may be technical difficulties or extreme weather conditions that you cannot control.

Jake Technical difficulties, as you said, is something that the group and our team can prepare before performance. Apart from that, being on stage, I have the impression that we all felt something different because Coachella herself is a very well-known scene that many artists dream of playing, and it was really more than expected. The energy, the atmosphere and the crowd were very different from what we were used to, but in a very good way. Just play there was very fun, very exciting [to be] Walk, see everyone. We have actually been able to watch the post Malone game the day after our performance. Overall, we had a good time.

The latest single of Impengen, “Bad Desire (with or without you)”, explores the desire to be equal to the person you love.

Laboratory

Was there someone other than you saw and that you enjoyed?

Jungwon I watched the show for about two hours in a row the day before our departure. The artists who left the biggest impression on me were Benson Boone and Tyla. Their live voices were so impeccable [that] I thought they were playing the [studio version].

Jake We also looked at Lisa.

Jungwon We really wanted to be there for his show, but it was the day before, so we were really sad that we could not go there, but we saw Lisa’s performance too online.

You are preparing to head to the United States this summer for your world tour. Is there a particular song that you are delighted to play this time?

Ni-k We have prepared a lot of rearrangements for this visit. The list of sets offers many reorganized songs. I am particularly excited to “pass the microphone” [“Future Perfect (Pass the Mic)”] Because during the other shows, fans loved it. We also had a good time playing it in Coachella. I am really excited for American fans to see him and look at him in person.

Your trajectory as a group is really interesting. You grew up alongside your music, but you also grew up alongside your fans, Enennes. What does this experience look like?

Jungwon I believe that we are a rather unique case because we made its debut in a hearing program. We don’t consider ourselves 100% perfect even now. At the time, similarly, we were not completely perfected as a new group. On the right side, I think it gave us an excellent opportunity to share this growth trip with our fans. They were with us at every stage of the process. In the past, we used to do things about our beginnings. With hindsight, I think it was an excellent opportunity for us to form a tighter link with our fans. As I said, we don’t think we are 100% perfect even now. We just want to continue to communicate and connect with our fans and share this growth course with them as you go. I just hope that this beautiful relationship will last further in the future.
