French Canada gets the remake of “24 en 24: Last Chef Standing”
24 out of 24: last chef standingthe Warner Bros International Television Production (WBITVP) format is being overhauled in French Canada. TVA, owned by Quebecor Content, has ordered a 12-episode series of the culinary competition, initially intended for Food Network. It will be produced by Pixcom and will launch in spring 2026. Part culinary marathon, part social experiment, the format sees 24 chefs take on 24 challenges over 24 relentless hours. Over the course of eight three-hour shifts, they are tested on their speed, artistry and adaptability, producing dishes designed to impress the hosts and a roster of guest judges. “Having only brought 24 out of 24: last chef standing to buyers at MIPCOM this time last year, the series has gone from strength to strength, with a successful second season in the United States and a third underway,” said André Renaud, WBITVP’s vice president of format and finished sales. The deal, which is the first for the format, was negotiated by Harry Gamsu, WBITVP’s vice president of development based in the United States.

The traitors Ireland Commissioner Gráinne McAleer has been appointed chief acquisitions editor at Irish broadcaster RTÉ following a public competition. She will begin her role in January, reporting to and supporting Director of Acquisitions and Co-Productions, Dermot Horan, in negotiations with major Hollywood studios and international distribution companies across all content genres, including feature films, drama and comedy series, documentaries and children’s programming. She has been a factual editor at RTÉ for over 20 years, helming programs such as Operation Transformation, Opportunity for improvement, DIY SOS, Build your own and more recently The traitors Ireland. Horan said McAleer had “a wealth of knowledge and experience, not only of Irish programming, but also of the international market”. He predicted his hiring would be key for RTÉ Player, which is stocking up on acquisitions as more audiences turn to streaming first.
