Leeds could set up substantial sales costs if Liverpool signs Charlie Cresswell

Leeds United could be in a significant day of pay if another first League club manages to make a signature of the left field this summer.
It has been a little over a year since the whites sold Charlie Cresswell in Toulouse for 4 million pounds Sterling (The Athletic), although a return to English football has now been mentioned for the defender.
Sunderland – who joined the Daniel Farke team in the high -flying arrival hall in May – were linked to a swoop for the 22 -year -old, having been impressed by his performances in the European triumph of under 21 in England last month, and another notable contender has now emerged.
Leeds could benefit from it if Liverpool signs Cresswell
According to Givemesport, Liverpool could consider a surprise decision for the central defender, which was the subject of several missions of screening for Merseyside last season, although there is no `active movement ” of the Reds for him at this stage.
If the Premier League champions were to bring Cresswell to England, however, this could also have positive repercussions for Leeds.
According to Leeds United News, Toulouse set a requested price of 18 million pounds sterling on the defender, the whites inserting a 15% sales clause when he left for Ligue 1 in July 2024.
The seven -digit round would soften Leeds blow on the sale of Cresswell
If Liverpool was to sign the 22 -year -old for the aforementioned figure, he would see that whites benefit from 2.7 million pounds sterling – not a huge amount on the market today, but potentially enough to tip the scales if the side of the Yorkshire was to fail with an offer for a transfer target.
The club’s decision to sell it a year ago was welcomed by many faithful from Elland Road, and even if the Farke team then won the promotion, the defender’s performances in France and for his country will have amplified the frustrations of the fans against his departure.
According to Fbref, Cresswell ranked among the most central 10% of the five main leagues in Europe last season with its match averages for non-penalty and XG goals (0.1 and 0.11 respectively), shots taken (1.11), touches the attack surface (1.94) and the air duels won (3.4).
His career has undoubtedly been on an ascending trajectory since his departure from Leeds, as reflected in the interest of the Champions of the Premier League.
Fans of whites may perhaps wonder what could have been if he had stayed at Elland Road, but if a return to English football leads to a seven-digit windfall for the club, at least certain advantages can finally come to let him go in the first place.
