The music is beaten, the crowd mainly dressed in white shines and the room is dotted with very famous faces. There is Owen Wilson, chatting with the pre-fusion Charlie Sheen. Diana Ross, radiant in a white dress, sweeps and grabs Will Smith by the shoulder to say hello. And in the center of all this is Puff Daddy – alias P. Diddy, alias M. Combs – lounge in the light of his own empire, having conquered music, fashion and the media before the age of 40.
Soon, the crowd looks at him, pierced, while the modern icon stands next to the most breathtaking element of her already exaggerated bash: a naked woman (wearing a strategically placed sheet) covered with sushi, arranged on a table for guests to snack. The cameras flash while the combs are addressed to the crowd, presiding over the scene as a master of ceremonies – or something else.
Cut in 2024. Two decades later, while the legal problems of Combs go up, the old photos of this night – including several where it seems to be correct on the display of sushi – has made its way online and quickly took a much darker meaning. In the eyes of a certain internet fringe, these images were not only a retro decadence – it was evidence. Of a ritual. Of a living human sacrifice.

It seems crazy – and that’s the case – but that’s all the interest. While Combs became the center of one of the biggest entertainment scandals for years, conspiracy theorists have seized the moment and were unleashed. Long before the start of his trial, the crowd of Qanon had already twisted the story: if he was condemned, this would signal the collapse of the Cabal; If it weren’t, it would prove how deeply concealment is going. Suddenly, a blow of sushi several decades was redesigned as a real human sacrifice, and Diddy was no longer just a musical magnate fighting against the allegations of real life sufficiently disturbing – he was the last symbol of the alleged Hollywood satanic cabal.
For an indefinite number of 20% of American adults who believe in certain aspects of Qanon’s illusion, these redesigned party photos have not only added color to the Diddy saga – they completely rewritten the story. The sushi table is not for; It was a ceremony. Combs was not a Flashy host; He was a high priest of the occult.
Qanon, which began in 2017 but is based on tropes of conspiracy of centuries, had been in an lull. His disciples – who believe that a cabal of democratic politicians, Hollywood elites and media figures is Satan pedophiles who have been secretly driven by Donald Trump – had not heard of “Q” for years. The quarter of work came at a time when the federal authorities focused on combs. At the beginning of 2024, he was charged with five counts, including sexual traffic and transport for prostitution. As his trial ended with a divided verdict – guilty of two counts, acquitted on the most serious – the viral tweet on his party “Eat -A -Woman” had been seen more than 4 million times.
“These branches of the Qanon saga are based on a certain level of reality,” explains Kevin Mercuri, a framework in residence at the Emerson College and expert on the culture of conspiracy theory. “Jeffrey Epstein obviously did something clearly badly, but there is a big hole there: where did he really get his money?” And who was on the plane, who is in the little black book? I think that with Diddy, there is a similar level of mystery. We don’t have bankruptcy. But there is enough can fill this hole.
And fill it in. The electronic babibllards were on. The sons on 4chan and Reddit built elaborate calendars binding combs with underground traffic tunnels, “Hollywood red rooms” and occult rituals – all the characteristics of the Qanon. Tiktok and YouTube algorithms also helped, by rewarding creators who republished old images (including the sushi-female moment) with disturbing legends and coded language. The views have skyrocketed in the millions.

The plot wave did not stop with anonymous posters of electronic babblets. Soon, it was fueled by voices that were once inside the Diddy orbit – or close enough to seem credible.
Chief among them: Gene Deal, the former bodyguard of Combs. A long -standing presence in the Bad Boy camp (it was there at night that Biggie was killed), Deal reappeared as a prolific youtube guest, offering cryptic theories – and sometimes disadvantaged – linking his former boss to everything, from the sacrifice of literal blood to political corruption.
The agreement also appears in a documentary on the rapper who has become a political politicalist, telling a bizarre story in which he claims to have seen bands of bands perform a bird sacrifice at Central Park before their joint trial. As the Combs trial started, the Internet was preparing for a bomb. The conspiracy theorists had aroused elaborate accounts involving not only the magnate, but a long list of celebrities would have attended its so-called “freak-off” parts. Jennifer Lopez, she said, asked Ben Affleck’s divorce to protect him from financial ruin before his own imminent arrest. Ashton Kutcher and Ellen Degeneres would have fled the country. Beyoncé would have been surprised singing “Ave Maria” in a children’s traffic tunnel under the Capitol. Justin Bieber had even dropped a piece of cryptic revenge and generated by the AI entitled “Lost me at a party in Diddy,” they said.
What they got instead was a relatively simple trial. No tunnels. No celebrity bombs. No singing in the dark.
Despite painful testimonies of witnesses to the accusation, the drama of the courtroom was surprisingly contained – largely focused on relations in the center of the indictment, with a single witness of celebrity taking up position. The “storm”, as the followers of Qanon call it, had not happened.
However, in the distorted logic of the conspiracy culture, this anticlimax did not kill the story. He fed it.
The verdict, on July 2, recognized the guilty comb of two transport managers to engage in prostitution, but erased it the more serious allegations of sexual traffic and racketeering. No dramatic withdrawal, no mass arrest and even his chief of staff, appointed in court as “agent and co-conspirator”, was not charged.
But in Qanon’s circles, this result is not the end – this is proof. Because if Combs was not completely nailed, it must mean that the deep state protected it. Acquitment on large charges only corroborates the plot, right?
In Qanon’s true logic, some have reversed their story again: the “evil magician” who would have presided over sushi sacrifices is now presented as a division of persecuted truth – someone punished to find out too much and, perhaps, ready to expose more.
For the faithful Qanon who know how to work the machine, Diddy was always a gift. Its story struck just like the pastel Qanon – a softer and adapted ramification to the Instagram of the movement – was flourishing. Destined largely on women, this version masks conspiracy theories in the aesthetics of well-being and #Savethechildren messaging, using stories of abuse emotion as a gateway. The allegations of Combs – involving two ex -girlfriends, graphic testimonies and a flood of civil combinations – have made ideal ramps.
The stories were easy to pack: powerful man, vulnerable victims, hidden abuse. Clipping a few seconds of old sequences, add disturbing music and place coded legends – the type of tailor -made content for the Tiktok algorithm. It didn’t matter that everything was proven. It just had to feel true.
Combs, who denied all the allegations and maintained his innocence throughout his criminal trial and the still increasing civil proceedings, now risks years in prison. But even if his legal saga has ended tomorrow, conspiracy theories will not. In fact, the movement has already evolved – not far from Diddy, but through it, more deeply in the labyrinth.
Because in 2025, a 2004 celebration can be whatever you want. Even a ritual sacrifice.
