Houston Weather: Second Round of Storms Tonight

Another round of storms will move through Southeast Texas this evening. Watch hourly live updates in the live stream player above.

Storm Warnings

Just east of Texas, the NWS is reporting a tornado watch and warning in Louisiana.

Strong storm, threat of heavy rain Saturday evening

The series of severe storms expected early this morning brought winds in excess of 50 mph and knocked out power to more than 167,000 Centerpoint customers.

Strong winds also downed trees and power lines were reported in a few places. And a confirmed tornado caused damage to homes in Grimes County near Anderson.

Another round of storms will move through Southeast Texas this evening.

Look for the worst weather to reach the Bryan/College Station area around 6-9 p.m., downtown Houston around 10-11 p.m., and offshore after midnight.

Due to this threat, a flood watch continues until Sunday morning.

Isolated severe storms are also a concern this evening, with wind and hail possible.

Good weather follows

After the stormy weather, a cool, refreshing front is expected to bring pleasant temperatures and calmer conditions through next week.

There’s a good chance we’ll see lows in the 50s and maybe even the 40s by Friday morning.

For now, Halloween is looking cool and dry with some of the coolest temperatures since early April.

Hurricane threat dangerous for the Caribbean

Melissa is now a hurricane and is expected to become a major hurricane within the next 24 hours.

The slow movement of this storm will cause flooding in Jamaica before very strong winds hit the island early this week. Jamaica could experience hurricane force winds for 48 hours, which is rare.

The storm will quickly move toward the Atlantic Ocean with no impact on the Gulf Coast.
