New resources for parents proposed like Horry Co. tackle students’ reading

The members of the Horry County School Board met on Monday and discussed the “Rise With Reading” initiative, a program designed to improve the literacy of students.
The initiative aims to have 95% of students reading or above their school level by 2030.
Currently, the district reports that around 75% of students meet this reference.

They talked about certain ideas about how they can help parents, help their students.
Lisa Bourcier, director of communications from the Horry County School District, stressed the importance of parents’ involvement. “Many parents would like to return home and provide additional instructions or resources to their students, but they don’t know exactly what is taught inside the class,” she said. “Be able to provide these additional parental resources so that parents simply provide additional support to our students is very useful.”
During the study program meeting, the board of directors discussed the creation of an area designated for parents to access tailor -made relationships according to the individual needs of their children.

This would offer parents more opportunities to understand and help in the study program that their children learn.
In addition, there was a question of collaborating with the Library of the County of Horry to implement these resources.
The initiative is led by the new district superintendent, Clifford Jones.
