Honor’s Magic 8 Pro gets a new AI button

Honor revealed the design of his next Magic 8 Pro lighthouse in a selection of images shared exclusively with The penisConfirming that the phone will include a dedicated AI button. When the Magic 8 Series will be launched in China next month, the phones will be among the first fed by the Chipset Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, which was announced today by Qualcomm.
The magic phones are the key products, and the pro models tend to start first in China, then later in Europe, where they generally cost more than € 1,000 (around $ 1,200) and rely on flagship chips, large batteries and powerful cameras. From what we know so far, the Magic 8 Pro will be no exception.
In Broad Strohes, the Magic 8 Pro looks a lot like the Magic 7 Pro. The back of the phone is flat, rather than having a subtle curvature like the previous model, but otherwise things seem familiar. Even light blue color looks very much like one of the shades of last year.
The biggest difference is on the phone side, where we can see an additional button in addition to the fingerprint sensor and rocker in volume. Honor tells me that this is a dedicated AI button, rather than a camera control, although what AI works that it will allow I don’t know yet. Honor also announces a new AI feature called Magic Color, which allows you to restore images and videos using the color palette from another image of your choice, but it probably has more AI tips in mind for the phone.
At the rear, we can see a round rear camera island, offering what looks like four camera lenses, but this is probably three plus a TOF sensor (flight time) for depth detection. We do not know much about these cameras, but the CMO Guo Rui of Honor shared a camera sample at Weibo taken on a 200 megapixel, 85 mm, f / 2.6 camera, which should mean a more powerful telephoto lens than the 72 mm periccope of the Magic 7 Pro.
Honor has also confirmed that Magic 8 phones will be fed by Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 of Qualcomm, the last iteration of the company’s flagship phone chip. Honor is not the only company ready for the 8 Elite Gen 5. Xiaomi previously announced that the new chipset will be used in its Xiaomi 17 series, which takes place on Thursday.
Last year, Honor announced the Magic 7 and Magic 7 Pro, finally joined by a Lite model also, so I expect the company to announce two phones during its Chinese launch event on October 15. They will be joined by the Magicpad 3 Pro, also powered by the 8 Elite Gen 5, and we hope to see a European outing at the beginning of next year. The company should also work on new Magic 8 Ultra and Mini models, although they will also arrive in 2026.
