Homemade salsa recipe – Love and lemons

Tortilla chips take out! This homemade salsa recipe is spicy, fresh and super easy to make. Take advantage of it as a dive or stack it on tacos, nachos and more.

Salsa House

If I learned something to live in Austin, it is because homemade salsa is infinitely better than all kind in a pot. I loved the sampling of salsas in restaurants and tacos trucks. Everyone was different – some were made with roasted ingredients, others had a smoked and spicy kick of dried peppers, and others were beautiful and fresh.

This variety inspired me to start experimenting with the manufacture of homemade salsa. I could remove dried peppers in winter, when good tomatoes are difficult to find or roast the tomatiles if I see them in the farmer market. But hot summer days, this recipe for fresh tomato salsa is the one I want. It’s super simple to make (no kitchen required!), And it’s worse, spicy and shiny. It keeps for 3 days in the refrigerator, but here it never lasts so long. Define it with your favorite tortilla tokens, and it will disappear in a snapshot!

Fresh salsa recipe ingredients

Homemade salsa recipe ingredients

You only need a few fresh ingredients to make this easy salsa recipe:

  • Fresh tomatoesOf course! I like to use Roma tomatoes here because they are more fleshy and less aqueous than salad tomatoes. If you cannot find them, another variety of small plum tomatoes would also work.
  • Onion and garlic – For a deep flavor depth! Rinse the onion before adding it to the food processor to soften its spicy taste.
  • Fresh lime juice and zest – They make this recipe spicy and shiny.
  • Jalapeño – For heat! If you are sensitive to spices, be sure to remove the seeds.
  • Coriander – He adds fresh flavor and pretty green spots.
  • Cumin – Its earthy flavor adds complexity to the spicy sauce.
  • Sugar – Just a pinch! It really brings together this recipe, taming the acid and acid flavors of other ingredients.
  • Salt – To burst all the flavors!

Then add the other ingredients. Mix the diced tomatoes, jalapeño, coriander, lime juice and zest, cumin, salt and sugar. Pulse until everything is combined but not puree. The texture should be big. Season with a taste and enjoy!

  • No culinary robot? No problem. You can also make this salsa recipe in a mixer. Just be careful not to treat it so that it always keeps a certain texture.

Fresh salsa recipe advice

  • Spice at your level. I like my salsa to have a spicy kick, so I use a whole jalapeño in this recipe. If you are sensitive to spices, start with half a chili and remove the seeds. Taste before serving. If you want it more spicy, mix more jalapeño with taste!
  • Pulsate the onion and garlic first. It is easy to treat home salsa too much. Then, instead of obtaining large salsa, you will end up with a gazpacho type puree … Not what we are looking for here! To help treat everything evenly, illustrate the onion and garlic in the culinary robot separately before adding the other ingredients. With the already chopped onion and garlic, you will only have to treat the tomatoes a little, so that you can get a nice coarse texture.
  • You may want to filter it. The consistency of this salsa varies depending on the water content of tomatoes. If it is too aqueous, filter half to eliminate part of the liquid. Mix the big mixture stretched with the remaining salsa. If you always prefer a larger texture, press more liquid to reach the desired consistency.
