Bryan’s most recent arrest occurred in January. At the time, the actor was facing second-degree domestic violence charges from police in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
In a police report obtained by PEOPLE, the arresting officer said a woman involved in the incident “stated she was assaulted” by Bryan and that the two “lived together and had children in common.”
The woman told the officer that Bryan “choked her and punched her in the face multiple times” and that there were “others” involved who were “inside the home during the incident.”
The woman he allegedly strangled was Cartwright, with whom he shares three children, daughter Kennedy and twins Parker and Sequoia.

A year earlier, Bryan was charged with fourth-degree assault, third-degree theft and misdemeanor harassment.
He pleaded guilty to felony fourth-degree assault, constituting domestic violence, Assistant Lane County Prosecutor Chris Parosa told PEOPLE at the time. Bryan was sentenced to seven days in jail.
Parosa said Bryan’s second count was dismissed as being part of a “negotiated resolution.” Instead of being sentenced to 19 to 20 months in prison, he received a “downward departure to 36 months of supervised probation, 7 days in jail, standard domestic violence conditions, no contact with victim without approval of probation officer,” the prosecutor explained.
Bryan’s probation sentence does not expire until October 2026, local media outlet KEZI reported.
In 2020, Bryan was arrested for allegedly strangling his then-girlfriend at a home in Oregon. He pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor domestic violence charges and was sentenced to 36 months of probation.

I have learned firsthand that the truth will never match what has been said,” she continued in a statement to Us every week. “I ask everyone to respect our privacy for the sake of the children and our families so that the healing process can begin.”
