The woman you see above may seem as real as any other human, but she is not.
She is in fact an actress generated by artificial intelligence called Tilly Norwood who, after a short period of time on the stage, aroused the interest of talent agents who wish to hire her.
As such, she was praised as “the next Scarlett Johansson or Natalie Portman”, arousing the indignation of big names in Hollywood, which mark it “rude” and expressing rabies towards agencies that wish to sign it.
This led the creator of Tilly to withdraw, insisting that the digital actress is not a “replacement” for a human being.
By going to Instagram, the actress and technologist Eline Van der Velden wrote: “ For those who expressed the anger of the creation of my IA character, Tilly Norwood, she does not replace a human being, but a creative work – a work of art.
“Like many art forms before her, she triggers a conversation, and that in itself the power of creativity.”
Van der Velden added: “I see the AI not to replace people, but as a new tool, a new brush. Like the animation, the puppet or the CGI have opened new possibilities without withdrawing from live game, the AI offers another way of imagining and creating stories.
“I am an actor myself, and nothing – certainly not a character from AI – can remove the profession or the joy of human performance.”
She said that “ creating Tilly was, for me, an act of imagination and know-how, a bit like the drawing of a character, the writing of a role or the formation of a performance ”.
“It takes time, skills and iteration to give life to such a character,” said Van der Velden. “It represents experimentation, not substitution.
“A large part of my work has always been to hold a mirror to society through satire, and it is not different.”
She also thinks that “the characters of AI should be judged in the context of their own genre, on their own merits”, not compared directly to human beings.
“Each art form has its place, and each can be appreciated for what it brings unique,” she wrote.
By concluding on an optimistic note, the designer shared her hopes that “we can welcome AI in the context of the wider artistic family” and simply as “another way of expressing ourselves, alongside theater, cinema, painting, music and countless others”.
“When we celebrate all forms of creativity, we open doors to new voices, new stories and new ways to connect with each other.”
Tilly was “ gently launched ” earlier this year, because accounts on Instagram, Tiktok and YouTube were created on behalf, but its existence became official last week, coinciding with the launch of the AI Xicoia talent studio.
Since then, many famous names have criticized the concept, with the Mexican actress Melissa Barrera who rages online: “I hope all the actors have recommended by the agent who makes this, drop their $$”.
“As it is disgusting, read the room,” she added her Instagram story.

Nicholas Alexander Chavez also commented: “Not an actress in fact. Well tried.
