Chelsea won the club World Cup on Sunday with a remarkable 3-0 victory against Paris Saint-Germain at the Metlife Stadium. The Enzo Maresca team was not imagined by a lot to win against the European champions, but they did so spectacularly.
Cole Palmer was the hero of Chelsea in New Jersey, as he was for the success of the UEFA conference league against Real Betis. He scored twice in the first half, before providing assistance to Joao Pedro’s goal a few minutes before the interval.
Success covers an excellent season for Chelsea. They obtained a qualification in the Champions League for the 2025-26 campaign by finishing fourth in the Premier League, the Conference League and the Club World Cup trophies were also won. Regarding the first seasons, Maresca had an exceptional one.
Chelsea has become the first club to win all the major honors available
Not only was victory against PSG significant for Chelsea in that they are world champions, but they also allowed them to achieve a first in the history of football. They are the first club to win each major honor offered to them, the club World Cup being the last play in this puzzle.
Chelsea won the former first division for the first time in 1955, with their first success of the Premier League exactly 50 years later. Their first success of the FA Cup took place in 1970, the League Cup won for the first time in 1965. The Champions League was won in 2012, the Europa League a year later in 2013, then the conference league was obtained in May. And with the success of the club World Cup, they finished the set.
The party is only just starting for Chelsea, and of course, there will be supporters who will believe that this season is the start of a possible golden era for the club. But for the moment, the emphasis is on the celebration of the world champions.
