‘His eyes are failing him’ – Fans express serious concerns about Al Michaels, 80, after hard-hitting appeals

Al Michaels has had a rough season.

The legendary broadcaster, widely considered one of the greatest of all time, has once again sparked concern online.

Zach Allen opens up about Sean Payton and Bo Nix relationship at Denver Broncos

On Thursday night, fans were quick to point out several mistakes Michaels made on-air during the Denver Broncos-Las Vegas Raiders game, something he has done several times this season.

“Al Michaels already said Tua Tahava…ioala and ‘Austin Jeanty’. This is going to be one hell of a TNF,” one fan noted on X.

“I always liked Al Michaels, but his eyes are failing him, man. He gets so many wrong calls,” another fan commented.

“Poor Al Michaels can’t keep up with the action in real time anymore. Damn. And this is the absolute best of prime time,” another added.

“Al Michaels looks like he’s trying not to fall asleep while commentating this match,” another fan pointed out.

Everyone, take a deep breath and relax. No, Michaels isn’t as sharp at 80 as he is at 40, 50, 60 or even 70, but who is?

Mistakes happen and, unfortunately for Michaels, they happen more often than ever. But give this man a little breathing space.

He has delivered more iconic moments and unforgettable calls in the sport than almost anyone in history. This is what Michaels should be remembered for, not for the mistakes that marked the end of his career at Amazon.

He reached the pinnacle of his profession and is among the greatest of all time.

What if he got a few things wrong during a terrible game between the Broncos and Raiders?

Since 2022, Michaels and partner Kirk Herbstreit have been the voices of Thursday Night Football, after Amazon acquired the rights to broadcast TNF from the NFL.

It’s unclear how many years Michaels has left on the air or how long his Amazon contract lasts. But what is sadly obvious is that the end is near.

Instead of all the negative criticism thrown at him, everyone should just sit back and appreciate Michaels’ miraculous journey over five decades.

There will never be another.
