Highway 55 crash leaves two dead, Freeport woman seriously injured
ROCKFORD TOWNSHIP (WJON News) — Two people are dead and a Freeport woman is in serious condition after a car crash Saturday afternoon. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, around 2:30 p.m., a GMC Acadia driven by a 50-year-old Shawn Slaven from Plymouth was heading east on Highway 55, near Rockford. Meanwhile, a Chevrolet Equinox driven by a 20-year-old Mindimoie Diggines from St. Paul was heading west on Hwy.
The two SUVs collided near the intersection of County Road 33 and both vehicles rolled into the ditch. Slaven and Diggines died in the accident. A passenger in Diggnes’ SUV, 18 years old Brooke Hoheisel of Freeport, suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center. A second passenger in Diggnes’ SUV, 18 years old Precious Diggines of Minneapolis, was transported to North Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The accident remains under investigation.
