Highlights from LA Night One

Sabrina Carpenter brought her brand of tongue-in-cheek pop to Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena on Sunday, kicking off the first of six sold-out shows at the downtown arena.
Sunday’s show was part of the second U.S. leg of the Short N’ Sweet tour; Carpenter has already played Los Angeles in November 2024 with two shows at the Kia Forum and one at the Crypto.com Arena. The show, divided by times of day, focuses on the main setting of a house.
Carpenter kicked off the show with “Taste,” the first single from his landmark album, Short and sweet. While the singer has become known for his catchy pop anthems, the Short N’ Sweet tour offers casual fans and die-hard supporters alike a better look at the singer’s full discography. Between her viral pop hits like “Bed Chem,” “Please Please Please” and “Juno,” she sprinkled in her slower, more lyrical tracks like “Dumb and Poetic,” “Slim Pickins” and “Sharpest Tool.”
The pop singer’s profile exploded last summer following the release of her 2024 single “Espresso,” with which she closed the show. The single and album earned Carpenter two Grammy Awards in February for Best Pop Solo Performance with “Espresso” and Best Pop Vocal Album.
The least exciting way to organize this tour would have been to only include songs from Short N’ Sweet, however, Carpenter interspersed tracks from previous albums like “Decode” and “Tornado Warnings” perfectly. The biographical “Because I Like a Boy” was a highlight, as were “Nonsense” and “Feather,” which marked the beginning of Carpenter’s recent rise to pop IT girl status.
Since this show was the second leg of the supporting tour Short and sweetthe setlist included some newer songs from Carpenter’s latest album, Man’s Best Friendwhere she told the Los Angeles audience that last year’s concerts inspired her to write several songs for the album. However, Carpenter managed to add “House Tour,” the groovy, innuendo-laden pop track, which felt right at home given the context of the series. She also got the crowd singing along on the album’s two singles, “Manchild” and “Tears.” At one point during the show, Carpenter and her dancers pulled out a roulette wheel meant to choose a song to sing, landing on the now-viral “Nobody’s Son,” of which the singer performed a snippet.
The costumes added to the overall experience of the show, a perfect match for the soft and sensual brand that Carpenter has built for herself. The singer managed to create the bodysuit with which she will kick off the show, something fans can look forward to. The black bodysuit she performs in for the majority of the show is both glamorous and naturally cool.
Carpenter managed to land six nominations for the 2026 Grammy Awards earlier this month. The “Manchild” singer was nominated for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Album of the Year, Best Pop Vocal Album, Best Pop Solo Performance and Best Music Video. The singer also earned six nominations at the 2025 ceremony.
All six evenings of Carpenter’s run at the Crypto.com Arena are currently sold out. She performed tonight (November 17) and returns on November 19, playing shows every night until November 22.
