High action, animation and character development

Hotel in Hazbin creator Vivienne Medrano and star Kimiko Glenn hint at high action and animation in season 2. The adult animated musical series revolves around Charlie Morningstar (Erika Henningsen) and his attempts to rehabilitate demons through the Hazbin Hotel establishment so that they can finally leave Hell and go to Heaven.

Season 2 of Hotel in Hazbin will debut on Prime Video on October 29. In addition to Henningsen reprising the role of Charlie and Glenn returning as Niffty, season 2 will also feature the returns of Vaggie (Stephanie Beatriz), Vox (Christian Borle), Husk (Keith David) and Sir Pentious (Alex Brightman).

By speaking with ScreenRant at New York Comic Con, Medrano teases that there’s a lot of action in season 2 and that “The animation has really improved.” Medrano also praises the upcoming season’s artwork and music, and emphasizes that these assets are part of the creative team that understands the series better than ever. Check out his comments below:

Vivienne Medrano: There is a lot of action this season. I think I’m very excited because, yeah, I think the animation has really progressed. I think the team behind this project really got involved. We all understood the show better and I think we had more opportunities to really let the artists shine. The artwork for the season is beautiful and I think the songs are really good. And as usual, the song sequences are the neatest.

Glenn builds on Medrano’s comments by promising that some background characters will have larger roles this season and that audiences will get to know all the characters better.

Kimiko Glenn: It’s also very cool because, in an ensemble cast, you can see some people who were maybe a little more in the background, or in the background last season. People are coming to the forefront this season and they have much bigger storylines. And we get to know people better. You get to know all the characters better, and I think that’s what fans will really obsess over.

ScreenRant also asked about the possibility of a sing-along screening for Season 2. Although none are confirmed yet, Medrano expresses hope that they will happen, especially since several parts of the new season are well-suited for theatrical screenings.

Vivienne Medrano: There was only one. I felt so bad, I was in Tokyo, so I couldn’t go. But I saw all the videos and they made me so happy. There has to be one for a season 2, especially since parts of season 2 will look great on the big screen. I want this so much.

Medrano and Glenn’s comments confirm that Hotel in Hazbin Season 2 will be bigger in scale than Season 1 since the action, animation, artwork, songs, and character-driven storylines are better than ever. This is an impressive feat considering the overwhelmingly positive reviews for Hotel in Hazbin season 1.

The increased emphasis on action makes sense given that Vox’s war against Sky is escalating. At the same time, the series will not lose the elements that made it successful during season 1, notably Hotel in Hazbin the season 2 musical numbers that Medrano confirms were “the babyest sequences.”

Given the success of Wicked And Demon Hunters K-Pop sing-along theater screenings over the past year, there is certainly recent precedent for having one for Hotel in Hazbin. Not only are the songs perfectly suited to this format, but so are the action and animation that deserve to be seen on the biggest screen possible.

As for Glenn’s comments about increasing the number of characters being targeted, that’s a promising sign that Hotel in HazbinThe most burning questions will be answered in season 2 and no potential storyline will be left untouched.
