Original Chicago PD Cast Member Takes Leave of Absence

THE A Chicago franchise lost an original actor as an important character moves away from his long-term role in Chicago Police So far, the story of Chicago Police Season 13 saw a number of actors get the chance to shine. The focus was on the aftermath of Charlie Reid’s death, which Voight helped set up.
Now, in a report from Deadlineit has been confirmed that Patrick John Flueger, who plays Adam Ruzek in Chicago Policewill take a leave of absence from the show to resolve a personal situation. The statement did not reveal why he would be stepping down from the show. However, he is expected to return later in season 13.
His absence from the casting of Chicago Police comes as a surprise, with the report claiming that scripts for later episodes are being adjusted to reflect Flueger’s absence. The report also mentions an unspecified difficult issue the actor faced, including bringing alcohol onto set during production. However, the reason for his upcoming absence remains unclear.
Ruzek de Flueger was part of Chicago PoliceThe team since season 1, introduced as a young recruit tasked with undercover work by lead detective Alvin Olinsky. He became a central part of the team over the years, while also having a difficult romantic relationship with Detective Kim Burgess. The couple got engaged in season 11 and married in season 12.
Kim Burgess, played by Marina Squerciati, has also been present in the series since season 1.
After the end of Chicago Police season 12, the couple was a key part of season 13. Their new family together after adopting a young girl shows that they have to be more careful than usual. Despite the importance placed on the pair, the series will have to pivot quickly now that Flueger is stepping down.
This is not the first time that a person from A Chicago the universe has been gone for a short time. Chicago Fire Lead actor Taylor Kinney, who plays Kelly Severide, stepped away midway through season 11, only to return in season 12. It appears Flueger’s hiatus will be shorter, with personal matters not preventing him from returning.
Ruzek’s return later in the season will allow his storyline with Burgess to continue, even though he has been suspended for the time being. Since the episodes are filmed in advance, he will likely appear in some future episodes. While his timetable for returning to Chicago Police isn’t clear, it’s a relief to know he won’t be gone for good.
New episodes of Chicago Police airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. on NBC.
