HBO Max’s new 6-part dark thriller series is now a global streaming hit

HBO Max has a great, spicy new series for subscribers to enjoy as the end of the year approaches. In recent years, several dark series have been released for streaming. As such, HBO Max has also tapped into this, with the streamer offering a nice selection of intense TV shows, including a recent release.

Seduction debuted on HBO Max on November 14. The French television show is an adaptation of Dangerous Liaisons, written by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos. The series follows Isabelle Dassonville, played by Anamaria Vartolomei (Mickey 17), who finds himself at the center of a dangerous game of manipulation, ambition and desire. The series also stars Lucas Bravo (Emilie in Paris), Diane Kruger (Troy), and Vincent Lacoste (Irma Vep).

According to FlixPatrol, Seduction is currently HBO Max’s third most-watched TV show worldwide. The only two series that beat their audience are Georgie and Mandy’s first marriageA The Big Bang Theory spin-off, in 2nd place, and IT: Welcome to Derrywhich expands the world of the Stephen King franchise and both HE films directed by Andy Muschietti, in 1st.

Seduction is trending in 46 countriesthe HBO Max series ranking in different places in the Top Ten for these nations. This includes the streamer’s 2nd place in France, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Pakistan. The 6-part historical drama also ranks in the top 3 – as 3rd – in 15 countries.

These include Belgium, Portugal, Spain and many others. When it comes to the series’ performance in the United States, the situation is different. At present, Seduction does not make HBO Max’s list of top ten TV shows in the United States. Instead, this list features series like Passionate rivalry, IT: Welcome to Derry, Mad MenAnd I love Los Angeles.

That said, Seduction enjoyed success in the United States recently. Just before Christmas, on December 23, the HBO Max series entered the national charts. Seduction was the 6th most-watched TV show on HBO Max in the United States that day. As such, it’s possible that the fiery series could reappear on the streamer.

Seduction received positive reviews. On Rotten Tomatoesthe 6-episode thriller series has a critic score of 73%. On ScreenRantIt is Seduction goodbye, Nick Bythrow described the TV-MA show as “offering the illusion of a six-hour movie instead of a mini-series“. The 6 episodes of Seduction are released on HBO Max after the finale, “Versailles,” released on December 19.
