Hamas military leader Mohammed Sinwar officially killed in Khan Yunis Strike, confirms Tdi
In addition to Sinwar, the air strike killed commanders of the Hamas Rafah brigade and the South Khan Yunis brigade.
Mohammed Sinwar, head of the Hamas military wing, was killed on an Israeli air strike on May 13 in Khan Yunis, the FDI confirmed on Saturday.
The operation, carried out jointly with the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency), has targeted senior figures from Hamas operating in an underground command and control center.
The FDI said the air strike had been carried out using numerous intelligence measures to avoid civil damage. The targeted command center was located under the European hospital in Khan Yunis, but the hospital operations were not disrupted.
In addition to Sinwar, the air strike killed Mohammad Shabaneh, commander of the Rafah brigade of Hamas, and Mahdi Quara, commander of the South Khan Yunis battalion from Hamas. The two figures participated in the planning and execution of the attacks of October 7 and the Directorate of Operations against Israeli Forces.
Sinwar was a key figure in the military leadership of Hamas and played a central role in the planning of the attack on October 7. Previously, he was commander of the Khan Yunis brigade and head of the operations headquarters, and was also involved in the removal of the kidnapping of Gilad Shalit in 2006.

The FDI said that the operation was led by the Southern Command and the Israeli Air Force, with the support of the IDF and ISA intelligence, and guided by real-time decision-making by the chief of staff. Eyal Zamir.
Sinwar was appointed to lead the Hamas military wing after the elimination of Mohammed Deif and his brother, Yahya Sinwar. His appointment marked his emergence as a key decision -maker in strategic efforts to plan Hamas.
Israel Katz threatens to remain the leadership of Hamas
Defense Minister Israel Katz responded to confirmation, saying: “Now, it’s official: Mohammed Sinwar, the chief murderer, was eliminated with the commander of the Brigade Rafah Mohammed Shabaneh and the group of criminals who were with them under the European Gaza hospital. They were sent to meet his brother to hell.
Congratulations to IDF and ISA for perfect execution.
The long arm of Israel will reach all those responsible for the murder and atrocities of October 7, wherever they are, near or far, until they are completely eliminated. “”
“Ezz al-Din al-Hadad in Gaza and Khalil al-Hayya abroad, and all their partners in crime, you are the next one,” he concluded.
Previously, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Wednesday that Sinwar had been killed, but the security establishment had not yet confirmed his statements.
