Halloween Fun – Parades, parties, expected haunted events

The gatherings of the Spooktacular community and the celebrations of the Day of the Dead will be held in the Elgin region from the first weekend in November. Here is an overview of many of them to help you start making plans.

Something bad Tops now until Sunday, October 26, in the Side Street Studio Arts gallery, 15 Ziegler Court, Elgin. The free exhibition presents works by 55 artists “whose subject is intended to instill a sense of combined wonder, fear and perhaps a little frightening”, according to his website. A ghost history train takes place at 5, 6:15 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday 11, 18 and 25 October at Fox River Trolley Museum, 365 S. Lafox St., South Elgin. The rides are family -friendly and adapted to all ages. Tickets are $ 20 per person. For more information, go to Foxtrolley.org.

Halloween Boo Bash Will be from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Monday October 13, on the lawn outside the Rakow branch of the Gail Borden public library, 2751 W. Bowes Road, Elgin. To moveAn inverted trunk or treatment takes place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday October 17 at Randall Oaks Park, 1180 N. Randall Road, West Dundee. Participants lead through a haunted path adapted to the family in the park to collect candy at scheduled times. The event is free, but the registration is required. The Trot of the Calacas (The Skeleton Trot), a 5 km race and a walk, will move at 9 a.m. on Saturday October 18, a course that begins and ends at the Gail Borden public library, 270 N. Grove Ave., Elgin. The registration for the race ends on Friday October 3 and the public is invited to look in person or on the Facebook page of the library. The functioning of skeletons will include giant puppets, live music and food. After the race, the El Trote Marketplace festival will open at 10 a.m. inside the library. Community offering of the day of the deadA Day of the Dead exhibition will be open to the Gail Borden public library, 270 N. Grove Ave., Elgin, from Thursday, October 23 to Thursday, November 6. An opening reception will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. October in the MEADOWS community rooms in the library. For more information, go to assist.gailborden.info/event/12231034.

The silent film “The ghost of the opera” (1925) and the short film “Koko haunted house” Will be presented from 7 p.m. on Friday October 24 in First Congregational Church, 256 th Chicago St., Elgin. A Run fun costume 5 km,, Mini Monster Dash And Outrait trunk will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday October 25 in Carpenter Park, 275 Maple Ave., Carpentersville. Race registration, which starts at 9 a.m., is $ 20. The free and family dashboard begins at 9:30 am, followed by trunk or treatment. West Dundee Halloween celebration Takes up from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday 25 October in Grafelman Park, 112 N. FIFTH St. The free event will star in children’s activities, a trunk or a treatment, a costume competition, autumn refreshments, a pumpkin decoration and a donation campaign for the fishing of fish. Halloween in the hollow Will be held from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday October 25 in Sabatino Park, 145 Thorobred Lane, Sleepy Hollow. The free event includes a costume parade, a pumpkin decoration, hayrides, a cooking competition in Chile, concessions and a joy fire. The headless rider appears at the end. Dundee Township Park District Day of Dead Celebration will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday October 25 at the Rakow Center, 665, avenue Barrington, Carpentersville. A community of Ofrenda will be exhibited and there will be games, crafts, live music, entertainment, makeup, food trucks and sellers. The tickets are $ 2, with a limit of five per family. Nightmare on rue de ChicagoA street festival centered on an apocalypse zombie fictive, takes place from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday October 25 in downtown Elgin. Tickets cost $ 35 online and $ 40 at the door. VIP passes cost $ 80. For more information, go to www.ightmareonchicagostreet.com.

A Give a dead day Will be exhibited from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Monday October 27 to Monday November 3, at the E. Max von Isser Gallery of Art, Building B, Bookstore Halway and Elgin Community College, 1700 Spartan Drive. THE Extravagance of the Elgin police department will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday October 28, outside the police headquarters, 151 Douglas Ave. The free event will showcase family pleasure, music, community resources, haunted house, something or treatment, snacks and a costume competition for children aged 12 and under. Family Lego Challenge: Halloween Edition takes place from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday October 31 at the Dundee library, 555 Barrington Ave., East Dundee.
