Haji Wright of the United States (Achilles) for the rest of the Concacaf Gold Cup

Arlington, Texas – The United States International striker Haji Wright was excluded for the rest of the Concacaf Gold Cup with an Achilles injury, American football announced on Saturday.
In a press release, the USSF added that Wright “will return to Coventry City for more in -depth assessment and treatment”. The rules of the tournament stipulate that Wright cannot be replaced on the list of the United States.
“Always sad to see a player leave, because the group was very good, and he is a very good guy and adds very good quality to the group, [a] Different option, “USMNT coach Mauricio Pochettino told journalists at a press conference shortly after the announcement.
“He is a player who can play in different positions in the attack. Yes, a sad situation, sad for him, sad for the team, but I think we have to prioritize his process in recovery.”
Wright, 27, scored as a substitute in the 5-0 victory of the USMNT tournament against Trinidad and Tobago, but he was prevented from training on the scale of the match against Saudi Arabia and was left to the alignment of the day of the match.
After the match, Pochettino said that an announcement concerning Wright’s status would be made in the coming days.
Wright was seen with his teammates who came down from the bus before the training session on Saturday, but was limited to gym work, according to a team spokesperson.
“He has already arrived with certain problems in his Achilles, then we cannot solve the problem; he increased [his] pain, “Pochettino added on Saturday.” That’s why [this] is the decision we take. “”
The injury is a hard blow for Wright, who came out of a solid season with Coventry City in the second -level England championship, scoring 12 goals in 31 in the league and in the cup.
He also hoped to make a significant impression on Pocsettino since other attackers like Folarin Balogun from Monaco, Ricardo Pepi of Psv Eindhoven and Josh Sargent of Norwich City were not appointed to the final list of the Gold Cup.
