‘Gremlins 3’ Joins Warner Bros. Slate 2027, with the return of Chris Columbus and Steven Spielberg

The first live-action Gremlins The film in almost three decades will be released by Warner Bros. on November 19, 2027.
Warner Bros. CEO Discovery’s David Zaslav announced the project during the company’s third-quarter earnings conference call. Original director Chris Columbus will return to the helm Gremlins 3 as well as production. Steven Spielberg will return as executive producer under his Amblin Entertainment banner.
The original Gremlins was a pop culture phenomenon in 1984, grossing $165 million worldwide. The sequel, Gremlins 2: the new batchwas much less successful in 1990, grossing $41 million, although it became a cult film. The persistence of Gremlinsvia merchandise, characters and comic book expansions from the initial two films, prompted WarnerMedia to greenlight an animated series for HBO Max.
Zaslav announced the project as part of an opening campaign about the Warner Bros. revival. as a theatrical powerhouse leading the earnings call. The studio is “now where creatives want to be,” he said.
With less than two months until the end of 2025, Warners is number one at the domestic and global box office. The studio has no more releases planned this year. While Disney will bring out the heavy artillery in December with Avatar: Fire and Ashit is unclear whether this will change market share.
