Greek mythology Diablo Rival Titan Quest 2 provides for new upgrades after Beta success

We are in a golden era for action RPGs for the moment. Last Epoch currently has my attention, but Path of Exile 2 continues to make great progress, his predecessor is preparing for a new chapter, and Diablo 4 Season 8 is as robustly reliable as ever. If you like to break the crowds and hang a booty, however, you will want to take time to Titan Quest 2. The next Greek Fantasy ARPG recently closed the doors during its first major game test, and in its developer Wake, Grimlore Games offers new comments and an update on its release plans.

“First and foremost, we want to express our sincere gratitude for the overwhelming answer,” writes grimlore in a new blog. He reveals that 92% of respondents in the Titan Quest 2 Beta survey described the global experience as “positive to very positive”. The Playtest included the chapter of the RPG introduction, the possibility of selecting your two master’s degrees and a battle against the first major boss, and the studio expresses that “you see you play, broadcast and discuss the game was incredibly motivating and showed us that we were on the right track in many ways.”

In addition to the positive overall response, Grimlore notes that around two thirds of participants in Playtest “recently played Titan Quest 1 or consider themselves as experts from Titan Quest”. He says that he is convinced that the appreciation of this group “means that we have managed to capture the mind of the quest for Titan”, while the just as enthusiastic comments of the new arrivals represent the success of TQ2 in “keeping the old living spirit while creating a modernized game”. In addition, an “overwhelming majority” indicates that they would recommend the game to friends in its current state.

Among the big winners were the atmosphere and the visuals, as well as the feeling of exploration, hidden areas, environmental narration and narrative events. “This game test contained only the smaller and more linear intro chapter, so expect much more openness and quests, meetings and craft events in the future,” promises Grimlore. He says he is also happy with players assessing the difficulty of an average of 3.63 out of six; “It’s a good place to be, difficult but not unfair. We want to find a balance between engaging the fight and an experience enough to enjoy after a long day.”

Of course, game tests exist to find areas of improvement, and grimlore chooses several. It points out on some players describing the fight as slow or slow, saying: “Our goal is to make the fight more tactical and significant, but it should never feel slow.” He works on improvements there, as well as adjustments to the aiming system following certain responses which mentioned the difficulty in targeting effectively with the arcs.

Grimlore takes into account the comments of balance because it works to refine where the capacities land. He also monitored performance problems, although the remarks that most respondents are satisfied with the current state and adds that he wants to focus more on this aspect closer to the 1.0 launch. “It is better to optimize when you have all the parts in front of you, without new ones being added and the existing ones that are constantly moved.”

The team has already implemented “several smaller improvements” in response to the game test. Among these, there are some practical control options from the launch of the first, allowing you to select between the mouse movement and the WASD controls before starting to play. There is also the possibility of selecting a “classic diagram” based on the original which puts both the movement and the attack on the button of the left mouse. Finally, new visual effects have been introduced to make it more obvious when and where you have unused control points.

At the end, Grimlore tackles the Titan Quest 2. Liberation window. Previously, he planned to embark on early access at the beginning of 2025 at the latest, but “realized that there was a lot of noise when it comes to ARPG in our targeted version window”. It is saying it slightly; April saw new seasons for Diablo 4, Path of Exile 2, Last Epoch and Torchlight Infinite. As such, the studio “decided to move the start of early access to the summer”, adding that it hopes to announce a concrete date soon.
