Boston – Fans of the extremely popular video game series Grand Theft Auto will have to wait a little longer to play the latest version.
In an article on X Friday, Rockstar Games said he had delayed the launch of Grand Theft Auto VI until May 26, 2026. He apologized for the delay of a game, whose release was discussed for several years. He did not provide details on the reasons why the release date has been postponed from the fall of this year.
“With each match we have released, the goal was to try to go beyond your expectations and Grand Theft Auto VI is no exception,” the company said in a statement. “We hope you understand that we need this additional time to deliver to the quality level you are waiting for and deserve.”
The actions of Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar, dropped almost 7%on Friday.
Strauss Zelnick, Chairman and CEO of Take-Two Interactive Software, was held in Rockstar in a statement and said that he supported the business by taking more time to realize his creative vision. He said he is still expecting a “revolutionary success experience that goes beyond the expectations of the public”.
“While we take the movement of our titles seriously and appreciate the vast and deep global anticipation for Grand Theft Auto VI, we remain firmly in our commitment to excellence,” Zelnick said in a press release. “While we continue to publish our phenomenal pipeline, we plan to provide a period of multi -year growth in our company and an improved value for our shareholders.”
Fans of the game reacted to delay with disappointment but also an uptop – because it was suggested that the game will be released in 2024 and then this year.
During a Reddit discussion forum dedicated to the game, several fans noted that they had already seen it and would not be surprised if the exit was again delayed. Others have taken a more optimistic tone, saying that an exact release date means that this will actually happen this time.
One of the last times the game has obtained as much buzz in 2023 when a trailer for the game was disclosed online. At the time, Rockstar released the first look of the sixth match 3 p.m. earlier than expected, quoting the flight.
This 90-second trailer gave fans a taste of what comes to the game. The trailer suggested that the next episode would take place in the vice-city inspired by Miami and Star a female protagonist, a first for the franchise, named Lucia.
We do not know if the delay means everything, or all of these details will be part of the Grand Theft Auto VI.
