Governor’s Office | Acting Governor Way declares state of emergency ahead of dangerous Northeast storm

Major coastal flooding, dangerous surf conditions and strong winds expected
State of emergency declared in all 21 counties
TRENTON – Acting Governor Tahesha Way today declared that New Jersey will enter a state of emergency at 10 p.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2025 in anticipation of a dangerous northeast storm expected to hit the state on Sunday, October 12 and continuing through Monday, October 13. inches and very high waves that can cause significant beach erosion and breaches in the dunes. Executive Order No. 399 declares a state of emergency in all 21 New Jersey counties.
“Beginning Sunday, a dangerous coastal storm will begin to move beyond our state with severe weather conditions in several counties, especially those on the coast,” » said Acting Governor Way. “In anticipation of this storm, I am declaring a state of emergency for all 21 counties out of an abundance of caution, authorizing our state’s emergency personnel to activate as necessary. I urge all New Jersey residents to exercise caution, monitor local weather forecasts and warnings, stay informed of evacuation protocols, and stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary.”
Executive Order No. 399 will remain in effect until it is determined that an emergency no longer exists.
