Google’s experimental Windows application is better than Microsoft’s integrated search

Google has so many products that it can be almost impossible to follow. And yet, the company has rarely created office applications to support these services. There is a handful, like a reader and a quick share, but the flagship product of the company only comes to the desk. The new Google application for Windows is now available, allowing you to search for the web, Google Drive and even your local files.

The company stresses that the new application is experimental – it is limited to Google Personnel accounts, and you can meet bugs. The basic functionality seems to be solid because it does not try to do too much. After installation, you can press the Alt + space (or a shortcut of your choice) at any time to display a floating Google search bar. Simply type your request and the results page appears in a small window directly below the bar. It can also attract the content of the graphics of selected knowledge, you may not even have to type the whole request for the information you need.

Microsoft’s integrated Windows search feature is notoriously shabby, and even in this experimental form, the Google OS Chrome style search experience is better. It is fast, drawing local files, stimulates documents and installed applications in a single interface. Local files and the reader are optional, so you can use them only for search if you prefer. The application also includes Google Lens, which allows you to select anything on the screen of your PC for image search or translation.
