  • Google Chrome on Android will allow you to require biometric authentication before updating passwords, adding a much necessary safety layer.
  • This functionality firm a flaw, because the existing biometric protection for automatic in Google Password Manager currently only applies to applications, and not to the browser.
  • A newly discovered parameter explicitly indicates that this protection “soon arrives on Chrome”, finally preventing the automatic password without verification of the user.

The manual entry of passwords is a pain, which is why many people use online putting services with password managers to save time. For better security, you should need biometric authentication before updating passwords. This prevents thieves who steal your phone from signing accounts that are not already connected.

If you use Google Password Manager, you may have noticed the “Authenticate with biometrics before filling the passwords“Option under Settings> Google> Autofill with Google> Preferences. As its name suggests, this parameter prevents Google Password Manager from Update passwords until you check your identity with your face or fingerprint. Unfortunately, this protection only applies to applications and does not work in web browsers like Google Chrome, even if Chrome uses the same default automatic service.

Fortunately, Google finally tackles this long -standing surveillance. Telegram user Micha told us that the “Authenticate with Biometric option before filling out passwords” had disappeared from their automatic with Google Preferences. Instead, they now see a new “Make sure it’s you to automatically do passwords“Option at the bottom of the main parameter page of Google Password Manager. Although the rocking has been moved and renowned, it offers the same protection. However, its new description contains a promising detail:

“For more protection, always use your fingerprint, your face or another screen locking when you connect using automatically (coming soon to Chrome)”

My colleague Hadlee Simons also has this new rocking, so he shared the next screenshot with me:

This description confirms that Chrome will soon require your fingerprints, your face or your screen locking in automatic passwords. Although it is not clear if this unique parameter will apply to Chrome or if the browser will obtain its own rocking, it is an improvement in essential safety.

In October, we reported that Google Chrome would block the automatic password if your phone was stolen. This protection is based on the Android identity check function, which forces biometric authentication when your phone is in an unreliable location. Although Google has not yet integrated identity control in Chrome, the new rocking that we have spotted seems to allow wider protection that applies regardless of the location of your phone.
