Amazon to strengthen your health care business

After more than seven years of acquisitions, various health service launches and the closure of his Télé -santry company, Amazon Health Services plans to move its long -term health strategy with a new company restructuring.

Why it matters

Neil Lindsay, Vice-President Director of Amazon Health Services, discussed the overhaul with CNBC and described restructuring as a natural evolution.

“Our management team focused on simplifying our structure to go faster and continuing to innovate effectively,” he told the network. “One of the problems we are trying to solve is the fragmented experience for patients and customers who are common in health care.”

Interior leaders will supervise the divisions, in the history of Friday.

Dr. Andrew Diamond, who was with One Medical, a chain of primary care clinics since 2007 and thanks to its fusion of $ 3.9 billion with Amazon two years ago, will lead the service of clinical care. Suzanne Hansen will supervise the operations and performance of suppliers.

Four additional divisions constitute AHS: a unit of strategic growth and development of the network led by John Singerling; a store, technology and marketing division led by Prakash Bulusu; Compliance services are led by Kim Otte; And his pharmacy company led by John Love, which has supervised the Amazon pharmacy since 2022.

The news of the reorganization comes from the departure of Dr Sunita Mishra, chief doctor of Amazon, and an announcement by Aaron Martin, vice-president of health care of Amazon, which he too will soon leave the company after the transition of his role. In April, Trent Green left his position as CEO of One Medical.

The biggest trend

Amazon has focused a lot of attention on the growth of its pharmacy activity.

The Cloud services giant has entered the market for health care providers when it bought Pillpack online pharmacy in 2018. For more than $ 1 billion, Amazon bought the pre-trié dose packaging and its coordination and prescription renovation coordination services to add to its online pharmacy activity.

In 2021, Lindsay, who had previously supervised the verticals of the first order of the technology and marketing giant, took over the company’s foray into the diagnostic services of virtual pharmacy, remote chart and health.

The technology giant has opened more pharmacies in American cities, launched free medication delivery and has concluded agreements with pharmaceutical companies to accept manufacturers’ coupons – all to increase the purchase of medicines via its platform.

Meanwhile, last month, Amazon Pharmacy and you serve RX, a pharmacy service manager, announced a home delivery service agreement on maintenance medicines.

“Our collaboration with Serve You Rx represents a significant step forward in the transformation of experience into pharmacy,” said Tanvi Patel, Vice-President and Managing Director of Amazon Pharmacy.

Patel said to our sister publication, Mobilethat the association of “the approach obsessed with the customer” of Amazon with the PBM expertise of RX offers access to 24/7 pharmacists and transparent prices, in addition to the Amazon delivery services.

At the same time as

“If we can facilitate something a little easier for many people, we will save them a lot of time, a lot of money and lives,” Lindsay told CNBC. “And if we get these changes over time, it will look like a reinvention.”
