The summer transfer window may have closed earlier this week, but it is always possible that Leicester is a signature – and that the signature could be the former Burnley midfielder Josh Brownhill.
Leicester is considering an immediate return to the Premier League after relegation last season, and Brownhill is considered an ideal player to help them achieve their goals. The 29-year-old was exceptional in the successful campaign of Burnley in 2024-25, when he had scored 18 goals and six assists in 42 appearances in the championship.
Brownhill put an end to his contract with Burley in July, which means that he has been a free agent for more than two months. But soon, this will no longer be the case.
Josh Brownhill will imminently decide his next club
According to TeamTalk (via 72), Brownhill plans to make a decision on his next club by the end of this week. He attracts the interest of Leicester, Southampton and Ipswich, while he also has an offer on the table on the side of the Saudi Pro League Al-Shabab, which could offer him an important financial whole.
In addition to the aforementioned clubs, Brownhill has received the attention of the Premier League teams, including wolves, it is therefore always possible that he finds himself in the English elite alongside the old Burnley club. And if one of these teams strikes his door, it would be very difficult for Leicester to convince him of a move to the King Power Stadium.
For the moment, it remains to be seen where Brownhill ends. He had a lot of time to think about the right decision at this stage of his career, and Leicester could be what he decides. However, supporters will have to be patience, as they await confirmation of his final decision.
