Global Girl Group XG on Coachella, “million places”, their world tour

Girl Group XG has been carrying out the world in the world pop space since their beginnings three years ago.
The Hip -Hop and R&B inspiration group of seven pieces – composed of members Jurin, Chisa, Hinata, Harvey, Juria, Maya and Cocona – made its debut in 2022 with the only “Tippy Toes”. Since the undeniably catchy song, XG has ventured into a range of different genres with songs like Rap “Woke Up” in the Y2K-Feling “Left Right” and “Shooting Star”.
Trained by the Japanese entertainment company XGLAX, a world fans base has always been the objective of XG. The holding of seven pieces took another step forward on the world stage last April, making his debut coachella with fanfare.
XG women stopped The Hollywood ReporterThe Los Angeles office to discuss Coachella, their recent single “million places”, their world tour and what they hope for the future.
Can you tell me about your experience at Coachella?
MAYA We are still not on how Coachella was incredible. The energy was so crazy, and it was our first time in Coachella. It was one of our dream stages and it is one of the biggest music festivals in the world, so we were so grateful and honored to be able to play [at the festival]. There were so many alphazes who came to watch our performance, so we are grateful to them.
What did Coachella look like? How long you prepare – there were obviously things for which you could not prepare yourself, like a windy scene.
MAYA Super windy.
Nest Coachella is a step that we have dreamed of for so long. We worked together on the setlist, also focusing on transitions between songs. As it was a group adaptation, we essentially built the scene from zero. We have also worked on a new choreography; A dance routine called “shinobi”. We practiced all this after our arrival at La, we also reorganized the MC for Coachella. We are doing a world now [that has] A different setlist. This exclusive Setlist of Coachella shows everything that is great for us. We practiced again and again – we even changed the setlist at the very last moment. We shed our hearts there. It was fun, but very windy, much more than what we expected. We broke out. The atmosphere was great and very festive. But we have to solve the wind problem, so you can see some changes during the second week. (This interview was carried out between the first week and the second week.)
You all seem to have fun. Was there any surprises on stage for one of you?
Coconut During “is this love”, although it is only for a moment, there is this scene where we greet the flowers. The public also made a sign of light. They danced to “left to right” like that [motions hands from left to right]. In the last part, some danted with us. I saw a lot of Alphaze in the front row – they shouted “XG”, which made us really happy. We were more focused on Coachella compared to [our recent] World tour, so we could not interact with our fans as we usually do. But even with the ears [in]I could hear them applaud and sing. I was delighted to see new people dance with us. During “Iykyk”, they were like “Wooo!” It was a good surprise.
Is there anything you learned from the experience? Even if it is only from the first to the second week?
JURY We have tons. This has exceeded our expectations. Since Coachella is held outside, the wind felt strong, as we mentioned earlier. I was wearing my hair because I love it this way. But my face was covered with wind. There were many other incidents in part because he was outside. I’m going to take this as a lesson and wear my hair next time. It was a precious learning experience. Unraveling in an environment different from the world tour has taught us so much. Unlocking an outdoor festival like Coachella was a huge honor.
Can you tell me about “million places?”
Jurin We have [been] On tour in the world for about a year. This song is filled with precious moments that we have shared with Alphaz. The song and the lyrics, for example, reflect our visit to the United States and what we have experienced in Paris. This song is filled with memories of what we have really experienced. This song will bring Alphaz back to the world tour. It’s going to be a special song. I am very sure about it.
Nest It is a movement in motion.
What was your experience on tour in the world? Can you share how you could have this experience together and about some of your favorite moments?
Hinata During the world tour, we worked together to build the scene. This experience gave us a deeper meaning of responsibilities and made our link even stronger.
Nest We have held space meetings, right?
Hinata We simply talked, nothing formal. We had a lot of communication [with one another].
Jurin In addition to that, the world tour and, of course, Coachella has been our dreams since our beginnings. It is as if we had taken an important step. This reminds us of our interns days when we have gone through difficult times together. Everything we have experienced is precious. Each time, we celebrate together by sharing meals, for example. These small moments make us happy. We started to realize how precious these experiences have been. It is a great motivation for us.
You have already crossed a lot of milestones as a group. What are your aspirations in the future? Do you have a big dream you are working on?
Harvey There are so many goals that we want to achieve, both as a team and as an individual. The most important thing, I believe, is that we appreciate what we do every day. We can already do this, so I would like it to take place from now on. Since 2025, I have been feeling it. Since we have always appreciated the idea of taking advantage of the moment. I think that makes the state of mind “just doing” [we have] feel even more important. We feel nervous and anxious while trying something new, but we can do it if we do it. Each of us has unique senses and talents. This gives us the confidence necessary to continue to pursue our goals and our dreams. My biggest goal for us seven is to perform at the Super Bowl.
As XG, you were able to explore different genres and try new things. How would you describe the real musical identity of the group?
Nest Space is an essential part of our identity. This is reflected in many of our songs. Of course, the Wolf-Motif too. We always say, “Let’s go to space.” The space is infinite [and] Nothing is impossible. Our music embodies endless possibilities. I would say [what defines our music] is space, infinity and the idea that nothing is impossible.
How was it to be able to see so many of your fans, Alphaz, in Coachella and all over the world of the tour? Many of them supported you from afar, but you were finally able to meet them closely.
MAYA It was such an incredible feeling. I think that if many of our alphazes come to our concert just to have fun, have time of life [and] Taking advantage of our music together means so much for us. I have the impression that our alphaz is so cute and they have the best energy. I have the impression that every time we see each other, it’s something new. Throughout this world tour, I have the impression that we have built this relationship where we cannot be separated, we are always together. “Million places” is a song on this subject, on all the precious and special moments that we had with our Alphaz. I hope our alphaze drops [or] Be emotional when hear this song. It’s a beautiful song and I’m really excited to sing a song together.
