The Saints Chris Olavedolphins Jaylen Waddleand the Raiders Meyers are among the names mentioned during the Giants’ “big game hunt” ahead of the trade deadline.

However, Miami is not interested in trading Waddle, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

“Several teams have called the Dolphins about star wide receiver Jaylen Waddle, and sources say those teams have been informed that Miami has no interest in trading him,” Rapoport wrote.

“Similar to [Jeffery] Simons for Tennessee, dealing Waddle would mean looking to the future rather than trying to win now. While things could change, it seems much more likely that Miami is willing to take on a rusher (perhaps Matt Judon, Bradley Chubb or even Jaelan Phillips).”

The Dolphins are currently 1-5 heading into their Week 7 matchup against the Cleveland Browns (1-5). It’s been a disappointing season for Miami and HC Mike McDanielwho won 11 games and made the playoffs in 2023 before falling to 8-9 last season and missing the playoffs.

Even though the team wants to keep their young WR, who is under contract through 2028 after signing a three-year extension worth $84.75 million, there’s still a chance a trade could be on the horizon if things take a turn for the worse and they change head coaches.

“The challenge in acquiring Olave or Waddle, according to sources, is persuading their current teams to part ways,” Hughes noted. “A directive from shareholders, a front office shake-up or a significant compensation plan could be enough to move the conversation forward.”
