Giacomin dies at 86

Ed Giacomin, a goalkeeper from Hockey Hall of Fame who played most of his NHL career for New York Rangers, died on Monday at the age of 86.
Giacomin retired from the NHL after the 1977-78 season with 290 victories and 54 bleachers in 610 regular season games. He entered the temple of renown with the promotion of 1987, and the Rangers withdrew his n ° 1 on March 15, 1989.
“Eddie Giacomin was a full member of the New York Rangers for a decade and personified what a Ranger is, both for his teammates and the faithful Bloehirts,” the rangers said in a statement. “You cannot discuss the story of this organization and not immediately think of Eddie. The great Rod Gilbert called him the heart of their team, and we cannot think of a greater honor to give one of the biggest goalkeepers to play. Our thoughts are with family, friends and teammates of Eddie during this incredibly difficult period.”
More to come.
