Georges St-Pierre: “He was champion at the time”

Justin Gaethje recently revealed that he had had a wrestling session with Georges St-Pierre when he was only 18 years old. Gaethje said that he had even managed to get a withdrawal on the former UFC champion during this session.

“Rush” is considered one of the greatest of all time (goat) in MMA, which had a 20-2 UFC record. Before retiring, St-Pierre also became a two-divisions UFC champion, holding titles both in the Welter and average weight divisions.

During a discussion on Washing in hot By Born Primitive Tactical, Gaethje shared the story of his meeting with St-Pierre in adolescence, saying:

“I was at the university, the fight. I was in university struggle, and I said to my coaches, they brought combatants from the UFC, and I brought it down, Georges St-Pierre. I killed him when I was probably 18 years old and he was champion at the time.”

When Georges St-Pierre presented a Charles Oliveira preview against Justin Gaethje Fight

Justin Gaethje was to face Charles Oliveira for the light title at the UFC 274. Before the fight, Georges St-Pierre shared his reflections on the match.

In an interview with MMA News, St-Pierre sang praise from Gaethje and Oliveira and chose not to predict the outcome of the fight, saying:

“It’s hard to say. I mean, it could go in both directions. The way I see it is that Oliveira has more tools in terms of how he can win the fight. But Gaethje never counts it. He is so durable, and he strikes so hard … I will not bet on this fight, guy. I don’t know.” [13:52 of the interview video]
