Gen V season 2 offers a perfect parody of a classic superhero trope

Do not start the bag, Marie: this article contains spoilers For “Gen V” season 2, episode 4, “bags”.

“Gen V” season 2, Episode 4, “Bags”, is an impressive dam of the typically strange revelations of the show and dark funny moments, with offbeat details (such as the most specific scenario on the theme of the goat on this side of “Sencence”) launched. In addition to offering us a long -awaited overview of the dean powers of New Godolkin University, the episode proves how ready to go on a mission to force a power upgrade on Marie Moreau (Jaz Sinclair) … or, at least, it seems.

At the beginning, the fight “Bloodbender vs Genderbender” between Marie and Jordan Li (London Thor and Derek Luh) seems to be a particularly sadistic punishment after the first is difficult and the second is expressed outside the turn. However, we soon discover that Cipher simply uses an existing school tradition for its own ends. God U has a long history of supe vs supe matches, with problematic names, such as the fight “Battle of the sexes” between the school alumni, the Queen Maeve (Dominique McElligott) and the Deep (Chace Crawford), and the match “Flightless vs. Chris” between Eagle The Archer (Langston Kerman).

It is a fairly obvious parody of the classic superhero trope where an imminent team between two prominent superheroes must start with a fight of fans services between them, either because of a misunderstanding, or – as is the case in the “bags” – the manipulation of the villain in history. It is normal that in the world of “boys” and “Gen V”, Vought is not only aware of the popularity of the trope, but in fact monetized it in highly proven MMA style events.

The God U Supe matches are a particularly disturbing example of the penchant of the franchise for the parody

“The Boys” and “Gen V” are known to use their brutal superhero adjustment to unparalleled real events. Some of them, such as the cinematographic universe of Cinematic Universe Marvel style and the tournament of ultra-violent fighting games, represent only a little more than funny dismantages of pop culture and commercialism. However, other targets are more poignant. Homelander by Antony Starr has completed his transformation into Donald Trump in season 4 of “The Boys”, while A-Train (Jessie T. Usher) has made a lot of big efforts when the spectacle has the point of view of a young sports superstar which fights against humility and is not above risking everything by doping to stay at the top.

On the surface, the battles of God U Supe exist somewhere in the middle between these two ends. Although the concept is technically just an MMA parody that Cipher uses to force this power and the long control control of Marie (and so that the spectacle considerably reveals her powers of “puppet” to meat), there is an underlying horror in the relaxed way, a series of children from the university to fight for the entertainment of the masses. These events combine the massively competitive GOD U ranking system with brutal glading games that are apparently An official part of the studies of the most powerful students, after all.

“Gen V” is in trouble on a first -rate video.
