Gavin Newsom’s redistribution plan is to piss off California GOP

The Supreme Court of California has canceled the attempt of the GOP of the State to delay the redistribution plan of Governor Gavin Newsom, by cleaning the track so that the measure reaches the referendum vote of November.
The GOP legislators who tabled the protest argued that Newsom had advanced too quickly and violated the state independent redistribution commission.
On Wednesday, judges disagreed.
Newsom’s plan, which depends on Texas, passing their initial redistribution effort,, Some California Republicans have exasperated.
“We have a governor, we have political initiates, we have legislators who break the constitution of California by drawing the maps of the congress behind closed doors, without transparency,” California state senator, Suzette Martinez Valladares, in Brianna Keilar of CNN on Wednesday.
“The new cards that the Democrats of your state want to pass … They include a trigger, that they would only enter into force if the redistacted cards of Texas come into force … Do you stand the Republicans of Texas responsible for what you are confronted with in your state?” Asked Keilar.
“Well, that, in fact, the government Newsom said that it would only happen if Texas reduced its cards, but this is not what the language of the bill said,” said Vallardares. “That said, if a state redraws its cards, it would go in an effect.”
“Okay. But that’s the effect.” So, do you have criticism from the members of your own party in Texas? “
Vallardares avoided the question, insisting rather on the fact that what Newsom was doing was completely illegal.
“If you cannot criticize the Republicans in Texas for their approach, which is so different from the one you defend in California, how should voters see the Republicans of California … Opposed to a decision like this only when it does not favor them?” Asked the journalist of CNN.
“Listen, I was elected and the 120 legislators who were elected last November in California, to maintain the constitution of California. It is not a republican question. It is not a democratic question. It is a question of political elitist in the silence of California and by keeping the power of the voters of California,” said Vallades, avoiding Keilar’s question once again.
California’s redistribution referendum is scheduled for November 4, 2025.
