Gavin Newsom says he has ‘no interest’ in appearing on Joe Rogan’s podcast: ‘I’m moving on’
California Governor Gavin Newsom said Monday evening that he no longer has any interest in appearing on Joe Rogan’s podcast.
In the first episode of CNN’s “The Story Is With Elex Michaelson,” Newsom said he had given up any hope he might have had of ever appearing on “The Joe Rogan Experience.” “For years and years he has been attacking me and it’s one sided and he doesn’t want me,” he explained. “He still doesn’t accept me. By the way, I’m moving on. I have no interest.”
“Joe Rogan is the Facebook of podcasting,” Newsom added, prompting Michaelson to note that Rogan still has a “pretty big audience.” “With all due respect, if he has a large following but he doesn’t have enough trust – I haven’t been there – to have me…” Newsom said, to which Michaelson further noted that the politician had called Rogan a chicken on social media in the past.
In early October, Rogan criticized Newsom in one of his episodes, calling his fellow podcaster a “good artist” and mocking his rumored presidential aspirations. “You can’t ruin a city and then ruin a state and say, ‘Guys, that was just practice. Once I’m president, I’m going to fix everything,'” Rogan said of Newsom’s work as former San Francisco mayor and current California governor.
Newsom previously responded to a clip of Rogan’s criticism, writing at the time that the podcaster was “too [chicken emoji] for having me on his show and exposing his listeners to the truth. Newsom then listed a number of positive and current statistics about California, concluding: “I could go on… invite myself at any time.” »
Now it appears Newsom has rescinded that last comment. “Here’s the thing. These guys, they all have something in common. It’s one sided,” Newsom said of Rogan. “They attack, they belittle, they belittle, they take things out of context. But it’s a serious thing, and a lot of times we just sit back and say, ‘Oh, my God, I’d really love to continue. Oh, if Kamala Harris had gone after Joe Rogan, she would have won.” It’s so much deeper than that.
Elsewhere in the interview, Newsom again brought up the idea of running for president in 2028 — given that this year’s election might not be fair if Trump somehow ends up running for a third term despite the 22nd Amendment.
