Gary Player’s Foundation gives $ 150,000 to the Riviera Beach pediatric unit appointed in his honor

Riviera Beach, Florida (CBS12) – The Gary Player golf icon presented a check for $ 150,000 at the Fundcare Riviera Beach health center almost completed on Monday, on behalf of the Gary and Vivienne Player Foundation.
The gift marks the continuous commitment of the foundation towards community health, and their generosity will be honored by the name of the Foundcare pediatric unit after the player and his foundation, according to a press release.
“More importantly, our entire pediatric wing will be appointed according to Gary Player and his foundation for the support they offer us,” said Foundcare Director Christopher Irizarry.
Scheduled to open its doors on June 16, the new installation of Riviera Beach will offer a full range of services, including adult medicine, pediatrics, women’s health, dentistry, psychiatry and a pharmacy on site.
According to Irizzary, the company requested funding and needed about $ 150,000, which the foundation offered.

“I get on the golf course and I am like a lion. I’m so fierce,” said the player. “However, when I get out of the golf course, I am a crybaby, like my great hero Winston Churchill. It just gives me such a joy to be able to see, having struggled as I did, I lived it. And if you experience it, you know what it looks like.”
According to officials, 30% of the population of Foundcare is under the age of 18, which makes the donation a significant contribution to pediatric care for children in poorly served communities.
“It’s good to be a world champion, but it’s more pleasant to be a world champion with love,” said the player.
