Gary Lineker to leave BBC earlier after the controversy of anti -Semitism

According to the BBC News, football expert Gary Lineker leaves the BBC following an anti -Semitism line, according to BBC News.

Last week, Lineker shared an article on social networks on Zionism containing an illustration of a rat, historically used as an anti -Semitic insult. The presenter apologized, saying that he would never have knowingly shared anything anti -Semitic.

According to BBC News, it is understood that Lineker, the best paid BBC presenter, will no longer present a cup of the Football World Cup in 2026, nor the games of the FA Cup of next season, as expected. Instead, he should leave the company after the last “Match of the Day” program on Sunday. An official announcement is expected today. Variety contacted the BBC to comment.

This is not the first controversy of Lineker. In 2023, the BBC said that it had a “ frank conversation ” with the star after having criticized the government’s asylum policy, comparing the language “not different from that used by Germany in the 1930s”.

In response, the BBC determined that it had violated their directives on social networks and that Lineker had to step back from accommodation for several days.

Earlier this month, Lineker seemed to criticize the new boss of the BBC Sport, Alex Kay-Jelski, telling the telegraph that he had “no television experience”, while asking him not to make changes to the “match of the day”.

And, in an interview with Amol Rajan de la BBC, Lineker said he felt that the BBC wanted him to leave when he was negotiating a new contract last year.

Last week, when the director general of the BBC, Tim Davie, was asked if Lineker had broken the rules with his article, he replied: “As far as the presenters are concerned, I simply say that the reputation of the BBC is held by everyone, and when someone makes a mistake, it costs us. And I think we absolutely need people to be examples of the values of the BBC and to follow our social media policy.
