Game Show Network plans to make “100 Choices” with B17 Entertainment

EXCLUSIVE: Game Show Network has decided to put 100 choices in development.

The cable channel works with Extract And On the Brand with Jimmy Fallon producer B17 Entertainment to create an American version of the Japanese family comedy format.

Tokyo-based FANY Studios and B17 parent company Sony Pictures Television, which holds international distribution rights, revealed the development today. Since Game Show Network is also a Sony-owned company, the deal is something of a family affair.

The show features a group of contestants faced with one question and 100 possible answers. If they can answer correctly, they win a big cash prize, but the question is almost impossible to answer. So they take on five physical challenges that allow them to eliminate certain choices based on their performance in each challenge.

This comes after Sony Pictures Television International Formats introduced the series to international buyers last week as a cornerstone of its unscripted slate. The US studio revealed the show at the London TV Screenings earlier this year after acquiring the rights at the Asia TV Forum, and part of that announcement revealed that B17 would represent it in the US.

“We benefited from a tremendous buzz around 100 choices since we unveiled the series at the London Screenings and we have had an incredible response from MIPCOM customers,” said Laura St Clair, SVP of International Formats at SPT.

“FANY Studios has created a universal format that can be enjoyed by family audiences around the world, and it’s fantastic to have the brilliant team at B17 Entertainment developing this for Game Show Network. I can’t wait to see how they adapt and improve the games for American audiences, and we’re very excited to be able to announce more news around 100 choices very soon.

FANY Studio is behind shows like comedy quizzes Freezewhich had great success in Portugal, and meeting format Realize (him) lovewhich the Turkish global agency has on the international market.

B17, founded in 2013 by directors Rhett Bachner and Brien Meagher, includes The final straw for ABC; Blue Ribbon Baking Championship And The history of swear words for Netflix; Craftopia, Baketopia And The Queer Book for HBO Max among others. The recently launched marketing competition On the Brand with Jimmy Fallonco-produced with Universal Television Alternative Studio, was featured heavily in our MIPCOM coverage interview with late night host Fallon.

Game Show Network is known for personalities like People Puzzle, American says And To changewith Beat the bridgewhich is based on the BBC report Bridge of Lies; a modern version of Tic Tac Paste; and the Jaleel White hosted Flip side.
