Full Premier League line-ups and squads

Newcastle and Fulham are both aiming to get back to winning ways in the Premier League when the teams meet at St James’ Park on Saturday.

The Magpies beat Benfica 3-0 at home in the Champions League on Tuesday, but lost their last top-flight match 2-1 at Brighton & Hove Albion last Saturday.

Fulham’s 1–0 defeat at home to Arsenal on the same day was the Cottagers’ third defeat in a row, leaving them three points above the relegation zone.

Newcastle vs Fulham line-ups

Newcastle striker Yoane Wissa remains out with a knee injury. Right-back Harrison Ashby has a hamstring problem.

Sandro Tonali is on the bench after manager Eddie Howe said the playmaker was being monitored. “He trained but didn’t feel 100 per cent,” Howe said, describing the Italy international’s involvement as “touch and go”.

Howe makes a change by bringing on Joelinton for Jacob Ramsey, while full-backs Tino Livramento and Lewis Hall have returned to training following injuries.

Harvey Barnes is a substitute again, having scored twice in 14 minutes against Benfica after coming off the bench in the 63rd minute.

“We’ll have to get the best performance possible,” predicted Howe. “We know the qualities of [Fulham’s] team.

“These are difficult games for us, coming back from a Champions League match. It is a mental challenge and we have to face it.

“It all depends on our attitude, our mentality. Our attitude must be the same in every match. Our attitude against Benfica was very good, our will to win was there. That must be the case in every match.”

Fulham vs Newcastle line-ups

Fulham make six changes, with left-back Antonee Robinson, centre-half Joachim Andersen and wingers Samuel Chukwueze and Rodrigo Muniz injured.

Striker Harry Wilson suffered a problem while representing Wales, but midfielders Sasa Lukic – starter – and substitute Tom Cairney return.

Coach Marco Silva said Lukic’s response to injury had been “very good”. “Best professional, best guy,” added the Portuguese. “He takes care of himself the best he can.”

Silva praised Nick Woltemade’s impact since joining Newcastle for £69million, including four goals in five Premier League matches.

“He has already shown that, in the box, he can score in different ways,” observed Silva. “He’s a very good player.

“[I like] like sometimes he can be the extra midfielder and he will link their play and support them to beat the first pressure for example. And inside the box, his profile is very good.

Fulham starting eleven: Bernd Leno, Kenny Tete, Issa Dip, Calvin Bassey, Ryan Sessegnon, Adama Traoré, Sasa Lukic, Emile Smith Rowe, Santa Smith Rowe, Alex Iwobi, Raul Jimenez
