Scenarios in play during the October window of Concacaf Men’s World Cup qualifying

MIAMI – The final round of Concacaf Qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup continues as part of the October FIFA international match window.
The final round of the Concacaf qualifiers will determine the region’s remaining participants in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, joining co-hosts Canada, Mexico and the United States.
The three group winners will earn a direct place and the two best second-placed teams will qualify for the FIFA play-off tournament.
Here are some of the scenarios in play in the upcoming matches:
With just three points separating first and fourth place in Group A, the October window will provide two key fixtures for each team to prepare for the final stretch. If a team manages to achieve two consecutive victories, they will be in a favorable position to clinch the first place in November.
Suriname currently tops the group with four points and will defend their place on Friday against fourth-placed Guatemala. The same evening, El Salvador will host Panama.
On Monday, Panama hosts Suriname and El Salvador hosts Guatemala.
Jamaica are leaders of Group B and could secure their second World Cup appearance during the October window. The Reggae Boyz could clinch first place if they win in Curacao on Friday and against Bermuda on Tuesday, but only if Curacao loses against Trinidad and Tobago.
Second-place Curaçao will look to take first place. Bermuda and Trinidad and Tobago will also meet on Friday as both nations look to keep their World Cup hopes alive.
Honduras enters October’s matches as leaders of Group C and will look to win their final two home matches to move closer to a fourth World Cup appearance. If Los Catrachos are victorious against Costa Rica and Haiti, they could clinch a direct berth if Nicaragua draws both of their matches against Haiti and Costa Rica.
Second-placed Costa Rica will vie for top spot, while Haiti and Nicaragua will both look to avoid ending up in the bottom half of the table.
