Four new features to come on YouTube Music

This November marks 10 years since Youtube launched its own music service. Although Youtube music is not as widely discussed as other streaming services like Apple Music and Spotify, it is a massively popular choice, with more than 125 million subscribers-when you include users of Premium YouTube who obtain the service as part of their subscription, that is to say.

To mark 10 years of Youtube music, the company adds four new features for free and paid users. It is not as monumental as you could expect for a 10 -year update, but there are interesting changes here to consult.

Taste game reading lists

YouTube does not share a lot of details on this new feature, but the press release says this: the lists for reading matches are designed to introduce new music to groups of people with similar interests. The reading lists update daily on the one who subscribed to them.

It could be an interesting way of crowdsource of new music. Rather than adding new music manually, listening stories for users of each reading list inform the algorithm, which adds new music accordingly.

Group integration

For this update, YouTube has announced a partnership with Bandsintown, a site that helps you find new music in your region. When users watch a clip, a short or an artist chain, this new integration will make them know when the artist plays near them. You can also get notifications when artists publish new music, merch and event dates.

New badges for video clip

The “badges” are like rewards to achieve certain objectives or exploits on YouTube. Since last year, you may have seen badges for “First to watch” and “top auditor”.

What do you think so far?

YouTube now deploys new badges, especially for clips. Now artists can win badges to “see the milestones”. For example, if the artist obtains 100,000, a million or a billion views, they will obtain badges in return. It is not clear if fans get badges to contribute to these enumerations of view, or if they apply to the artist’s page.

YouTube teases the possibility of adding comments on albums and reading lists, similar to how you can comment on the clips. However, the company has not shared a calendar for the fall in this functionality.

As a reminder, YouTube Music is available as a free service on iOS, Android and the web. You can subscribe to YouTube Music for $ 10.99 per month, or get it as part of a Premium YouTube subscription for $ 13.99 per month.
