Fortnite is now not available on iOS around the world, said Epic Games said on Friday after Apple blocked an offer to restore the popular game on the App Store in the United States
“Apple blocked our submission of Fortnite so that we can not release the American App Store or to the Epic Games store for iOS in the European Union,” wrote the official story of Fortnite in an article on the social media platform X. “Now, unfortunately, Fortnite on iOS will be offline in the world
CNBC contacted Apple to comment.
The EPIC Games submitted Fortnite to the Apple American App Store last week, a month after a judge ruled that the iPhone manufacturer was not authorized to invoice a purchase commission that consumers make outside of an iOS application.
Fortnite was withdrawn from the App Store in 2020 after the Epic Games updated its software to link to its own website to avoid Apple commissions. Apple invoices developers of costs of 30% for integrated purchases.
Fortnite was available on iPhones in Europe since last year thanks to the own digital store of Epic Games. Third -party application stores are authorized in the European Union under the Digital Markets Act.
However, Friday, Epic Games said that he was also prevented from distributing Fortnite in his Epic Games store for iOS in the EU.
