Former Manchester United manager, 52, expresses interest in taking over at Old Trafford: reports

Ole Gunnar Solskjær has reportedly expressed an interest in becoming Manchester United’s caretaker manager. The Norwegian wants to help the club until the end of the season following the dismissal of Ruben Amorim.
According to a report from Fabrizio Romano, the Manchester United board are aware of Solskjær’s desire to return and are evaluating it. They are working with Darren Fletcher as interim manager this week and plan to appoint a new manager next week.
Thanks for the submission!
However, they are prepared to wait until the end of the season before finding a permanent manager if they fail to find the right candidate in the coming days. The Athletic added that the former Red Devils manager was under consideration after impressing during his previous stint as caretaker manager when Jose Mourinho was sacked.
Solskjær spoke to BBC Sport earlier this season, admitting he loved the pressure of being Manchester United boss and said:
“I felt privileged to be the manager of Man United, but of course it’s not the same as playing. As a player you just do your job. Suddenly you’re the manager, you’re the face of everyone. You think about all these supporters, players, everything around Man United. But that pressure is a privilege because I had the right to do it and I had the right to handle it in my own way.
“And that was having great staff around us, an environment in and around the club that was very positive. But ultimately it doesn’t matter if you like coming to work every day, the training sessions… you need results and we unfortunately had a very bad six weeks and that’s too long at a club like Man United and they’ve made a change, which is good.
As caretaker manager, Solskjær took charge of 19 matches at Old Trafford, winning 14 and losing only three. He was then made permanent manager, managing 149 matches, winning 78 and losing 38, before being sacked.
Rio Ferdinand names 4 managers Manchester United should consider
Rio Ferdinand named four managers following Ruben Amorim’s dismissal at Manchester United, and Ole Gunnar Solskjær was not on the list. The Englishman chose Roberto De Zerbi, Thomas Tuchel, Xavi and Darren Fletcher.
He was shocked by the decision to sack Amorim, but went live on YouTube and said it was not shocking if the statistics were taken into account.
The Red Devils sacked Amorim on Monday January 5 after the 1-1 draw against Leeds United. The Portuguese managed the club for 14 months, during which the club won 25 matches and lost 23.
