Ford recalls nearly 1.5 million vehicles in the United States, as the rear view camera can display a virgin or deformed image on the central display screen while the vehicle is upside down, which can reduce or deform the driver’s sight of what is behind the car and increase the risk of an accident.
The recall includes certain vehicles from models 2015 to 2015 to Lincoln Navigator, Lincoln MKC, Mustang, Ranger, Transit, Transit Connect, Econoline, Edge, Expedition, F-25 SD, F-350 SD, F-450 SD and F-550 SD.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said in its security recall report on Monday that Ford was aware of 18 accidents and no injury related to the camera problem.
The agency said that the owners of vehicles will be informed by mail and have asked to take their vehicles to a Ford or Lincoln dealership so that the rear view camera is inspected and replaced, if necessary. There will be no fees for the service.
