Flyers should hire Rick Tocchet as next head coach

It seems that Rick Tocchet has found a new house.
The ex-Vancouver Canucks head coach should be hired by the Philadelphia flyers, Eliot Friedman from Sportsnet reported.
Tocchet, 61, spent 11 seasons as a player with the flyers from 1984 to 1992 and 1999-2002.
Now, he should join the franchise while he has been looking for his first appearance in the playoffs since 2020. Philadelphia equally for the end of the Eastern Conference last season with a record of 33-39-10 (76 points) and has the sixth choice in total in the next draft.
The Flyers dismissed head coach John Tortorella in March in the middle of a sequence of six consecutive defeats and reports of an altercation with defender Cam York. Brad Shaw took up his acting coach for the rest of the season.
Tocchet spent two and a half seasons with the Canucks, leading the team to a division title in 2024 before leaving after a rock follow -up season.
Tocchet informed the canops whom he would not come back as a head coach on April 29. Vancouver had previously declared that he would not use his club option, leaving the decision entirely in the hands of Tocchet.
The team hired Tocchet in 2022 after a tumultuous and a half season with Bruce Boudreau. After taking over behind the bench, the Tocchet cannucks had a 20-12-4 file in their last 36 games.
During his first full season as a head coach of the Canucks, Tocchet led the team to his first division victory since 2012-13 with a file of 50-23-9. Vancouver won his series in the first round against Nashville, but lost in seven games against Edmonton around 2. He received the Jack Adams award as the best NHL coach.
In 200 regular season games with the Canucks, Tocchet held a 108-65-27 file and won seven of the 13 qualifying games.
Before causing cannucks, Tocchet organized two head coach concerts with the Tampa Bay Lightning (2008-2010) and the Arizona Coyotes (2017-2021). In nine seasons in total as a chief coach, Tocchet has two appearances in the playoffs and a percentage of victory of .500.
