Florida deputy killed, others injured in shooting

A Florida deputy was killed and several others were injured Friday in a shooting at an upscale gated community, officials told local media.
The gunfire erupted just north of Vero Beach at the Bermuda Club, Vero Beach Mayor John Cotugno told local NBC affiliate WPTV.
The injured deputies were transported to HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital in nearby Fort Pierce under police escort, Cotugno said.
Their conditions were not disclosed.
Indian River County Sheriff Eric Flowers is scheduled to hold a news conference at noon during which more details about the developing situation, including the name of the slain deputy, could be revealed.
The Bermuda Club, according to its website, is located on barrier island Orchid and features “93 Caribbean-style single-family homes” located just steps from the beach and the Atlantic Ocean.
It’s a development history. Please check again for updates.
